They're putting one in downtown Fayetteville now that it has rapidly increased in population density. Allegedly its a higher-quality menu and they serve booze.

Apparently they just opened the first two in the fall in San Francisco and Chicago as a test. Now they're rolling them out in other areas.

urban Taco Bell

quote:

Irvine, Calif. (September 15, 2015) – Taco Bell is dropping the drive-thru, opening its kitchens and using technology to create a new experience as the brand expands into urban markets. The new design focuses on simplifying and modernizing the restaurant experience and bringing forward an atmosphere as unique as the community in which it serves. The first of these restaurants—called Taco Bell Cantina—will open in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago on Tuesday, September 22, and the second will open in San Francisco later this month.

No, I haven't, but it looks like they've upped the game some on the interiors.

No, Jose's is being mostly rebuilt as JJs, keeping the outside live music, bringing part of the building up the the street.

It's going where Common Grounds used to be.

Okay I remember that KJ's going where Jose's was now.

I never went to common ground.

I hate that Jose's left, I need to go into the nam this weekend I'm hoping Does won't be packed since students are gone.

For some reason my first reaction was to replace, "Funky Cold Medina" with "Taco Bell Cantina."

They closed the North College Ave location last week. I guess the local developer is consolidating it into the downtown location.

My first reaction is this is screwed up, replacing another local with a fast-food chain. Downtown is rapidly becoming like a small slice of a big city and everybody there walks or bikes for most of their daily needs. Chains can now survive down there without parking. That's how it goes.

I live in SF and was not even aware that this existed. Chain restaurants do extremely poorly in this city, but it does have a 4.2 rating on Yelp. I'm guessing much of its clientele is drunk Giants fans leaving AT&T Park and looking for food.
