I agree as long as it doesn't affect the things you mentioned or hiring etc. People are free to think what they want to in this country as they should be.
That being said I don't personally feel that hatred or disgust for someone based on skin color, religion, or sexual preference is healthy. I know and love a lot of evangelicals and have no issue with the fact that they believe. I take issue when they inject facets of those beliefs into government. That's what gets my jimmies rustled. When I meet an evangelical I'm generally just like whatever.

Let me get this straight, any ideology that doesn't line up with your way of thinking is ignorant... Also, it pisses you off that this group is closed minded and doesn't agree with your ideologies. In conclusion, since they're not in agreement with the way you believe, you can't wait for them to die... How ironic...

Sucks it happened the night before Mother's Day. Was hoping to see a lot of indignation on Facebook this morning, but only seeing a bunching Mother's Day posts.

You do realize that this same argument could be made by the most reprehensible groups.......and probably has.
In fact I'd wager that the majority of people attacking my position because I leveled it at their own beliefs would take no issue were it directed at people opposed to interracial marriage on the same "it's unnatural" grounds. You guys are on the wrong side or social evolution and all trends show that you're on your way out. sorry.

He said the ideology was dying a slow death.

Having painted yourself in a corner, the arduous task of extricating yourself from your own predicament has begun.

He also said that "bigoted blue hairs take a dirt nap." I'm not sure that can be interpreted as a term of concern and compassion.

Serious question: what is your emotional investment in the issue? You don't have to answer, obviously.

I didn't read the entire post. There is only so much stupid I want to read.
But if I'm going to respond with a shot I should try to get through the whole thing. I will work on that.

shite man, this is an internet forum I rarely post on.....explaining myself out of a "corner" isn't really necessary but Ill answer your question.
My emotional attachment to the issue is what I see as an effort to infringe upon a homosexuals right to marriage as well as large swaths of hatred and discrimination. I know it rustles African American jimmies, but its hard to believe how many African Americans I've met that cannot seem to empathize with this plight....due to their own prejudice. They seem to be offended and feel that this somehow equates blackness with homosexuality which is ridiculous.
At any rate, I attribute a large amount of this bigotry to the evangelical christians. It should be pretty plain to see why. Just listen to right wing talk radio or read this board. As to "blue hairs taking a dirt nap".....first of all its just a funny phrase. Second of all I am glad to watch prejudice die. History will view opposition to rights of homosexuals exactly as we currently view "backwards" racists now. The trending data is undeniable. Even central figures of the evangelicals are recommending that they back of the "adam and steve" jokes because, intelligently, they recognize that an ideology that does not adapt to social evolution dies just like a species that doesn't adapt to a changing environment.
You guys may not like it, but your cries now are yet another death throe of intolerance. Isnt the first.....wont be the last.
Now, its Sunday.....I have to go to the grocery store and play some ball.

Intolerance is a two-sided game, you should be able to see that, I would think.

Well now we have no new information and many more words. Explaining isn't for everyone. Thanks.

I don't think discrimination is an automatic correlation with hatred. If a homeless man who is clearly dirty walks into a restaurant -- I think any business owner has the right to tell him to leave their establishment. It's discrimination of a type (against the unclean) but it has nothing to do with hatred.
Likewise, there are certain cultures within the homosexual community that people generally don't tolerate, even among homosexuals.
For instance: I think most people are quite okay with most other people as long as they leave their personal struggles at the door.
I have a theory that when people attribute pride to something -- it automatically bolsters hatred. Especially pride on something that isn't earned. (Race, nationality, homosexuality, most of religion.)
This creates an effect whereupon the viewer cannot be apart of this said attribute -- and so resorts to insults.
It's my personal belief that the less pride you associate with a movement (Brown, black, white) -- the more effective your message will become. And as I said: It's not a matter of hatred, it's a matter of difference. The more you outline how different you are and say that you ought to be accepted, no strings attached, you are far more likely to get blasted.
