No they did not. What America needs is to stay on topic, NFL stories focused on anything other than football or draft picks/status is not needed.

Seeing Michael Sam kiss his boyfriend was the picture America needed

America sees this and much more lude crude versions of it, pretty much anytime they watch a HBO/Cinemax/Showtime show nowadays.

to actually move forward to the actual acceptance of gays

People are gonna be people and like/dislike what they want, forcing others to accept anything they disagree with will never end well.
America still struggles with racism on a daily basis in one form or another, to assume this will become widely accepted before racial harmony, is a dreamer's chance at best.
Getting rid of the people that promote this side or that side while baiting the other side into a fight is the first step into making stuff like this widely accepted or at least tolerated and viewed as "the Norm"
A sports event that focuses on anything else other than sports is the problem not the cure.

America did not need this like we do not need any more of your half baked threads.

That's how the Civil Rights Era worked too. "I have a dream... That one day we'll just deal with the fact that there are bigots utilizing systemic oppression to deny certain people the privileges and rights of all citizens."

so long as they don't push their way of life on me.

Nobody is doing this.

This is why the country will never accept gays. They try to get people to believe they are persecuted based on something they have no choice over.

Everything has to have a social agenda now.. We can't just enjoy things at face value. Everything has to be about furthering a cause or pushing an idea.

No, that's why YOU will never accept gays.

Homosexuality isn't a choice. No reasonable person would believe it is.

Actually demographic data among under 30's says different. It becomes more and more excepted every day as bigoted blue-hair fricks take a dirt nap. I guess these types of responses are expected on the SEC Rant given that the south is the strongest remaining bastion of ignorant evangelical Christians.

Speaking of another ideology that I blissfully watch die the slow death of ignorance.

The whole problem with your type and the demographic you represent is you put a cheers at the end.

You should be able to man up and say frick you, i hope you die soon so your ideals die with you. That is why you can't tell gays you disagree with them. You have to be on happy terms with everyone.

Lol I did fricktard.....the "cheers" was meant as a facetious frick you.

You'd think that would be clear after I said "blissfully watch your religion die". You really think I believe a fricking cheers emoticon keeps me in the good graces of you mouth breathers????

What America needs is to stop putting these people in the media spotlight and celebrating or promoting such things because it causes a divide in this country.

Accept that there are people who disagree with homosexuality. I'm one of them. I think its wrong and disgusting. I also believe that people have the right to choose how to live their life, and I will respect their choice and tolerate their actions so long as they don't push their way of life on me.

People need to simply be left alone

I don't know so much about disgusting (I can't bring myself to like other men, and do find them sexually repulsive) but this is what needs to be done.

People have got to understand that others are different and you can't force them to like something. I listen to metal -- heavy, industrial, instrumental, doom, most kinds.

I don't protest Top 40, demanding that metal be played equally on the radio. I understand that my lifestyle, my culture, isn't accepted by most people and acknowledge that they have reason not to.

Metal doesn't hurt anyone (outside of a moshpit, and literal usage of metal), but it isn't for everyone and I accept the caveats that come with it.

In conclusion: People need to stop trying to change people through protest, media and other avenues. Society changes on its own.

That's what i was looking for. You talk about people accepting things they disagree with. Yet you hope anyone that doesn't believe like you dies a slow death. But you're too stupid to see the irony.

Blame ESPN for that. All Sam is doing is trying to get drafted. Media gonna media

It was a publicity stunt to avoid criticism by the NFL to have someone draft him last. He should be embarrassed!

No. I accept that lots of people are so psychologically conditioned that they pretty much have no chance of acceptance......so I don't expect it from them. Much like with old racist fricks I just lift a glass as they bite the big one. And at the same time I pity them.

More acceptance and understanding from progressives. You preach it yet you have no comprehension of it.

I have to ask, though: Why do they have to accept it? Why can't they disagree with it? As long as it doesn't impact decisions made by things like housing, federal employment or other facets of society that represent government -- I don't see why people can't discriminate against something they disagree with.
