The least they could’ve done was let the Night King kill Bran. Smh.

Great episode!
yeah was pretty good. Shame NK is dead. Was hoping he'd win this battle. But then I should've known.
Winterfell is where the last winter fell.
Was also hoping Jon would fight the night king, but we got Deus Ex Arya. Still pretty good

Very satisfied with the ending.
Weirdly enough I feel a little let down that more main characters didn't die. There were a bunch I thought had zero chance of making it out of this episode but lived.

I agree. But also this build up was so big I forgot they still have to take the Iron Thrown. Guess they need someone to live to do that.

Yeah. After killing so many characters over the past seasons, feels like they played it a little too safe with some of the characters. But I'm sure many more will die before it's over

Ep was shite. All these years of prophecy building, all these years of hinting, all these years of tension, going back to the 90s just thrown away so Arya could get a cool badass TV moment. Everything Rhaegar, Blood Raven, and later Bran did was because of prophecy and visions in that they knew that the Prince who was Promised must come from the line of Aerys, and then the show runners throw that all away and have Arya do what tPWWP was supposed to do.
All the hinting that Azor Ahai was Danny, all the shite she went through in the House of the Undying, with Quaithe, with the Red Priests, all of it just thrown out the window so the show runners could have Arya do it.
We got absolutely zero insight in to the motivation of the Others/WWs. Everything was building to show some reason they wanted to kill Bran, was Bran the actual NK? Was he the Night’s King as well? Was he Bran the Builder?
Lol, nah bro, WWs just want to kill cause they bad, that’s it.
Everything Danny did to build this Army going back to the first episode and her getting in with the Dothraki just tossed away, they’re mindlessly gone in the first 10m.
Shitty story. 0/10 story telling. 10/10 television. The show runners just want this thing to be done. In the beginning they showed a lot of devotion and commitment to the characters and plot but they’ve lost that as they’ve run out of books to guide them and it’s painful to see. This ep and the next three will be for the huge swathe of normie watchers who only picked it up after 2015 and they’ll think it’s fricking amazing.
Sad.

They probably won’t even have Tyrion or Jamie kill Cersei. They didn’t have the guts to have Jon or Danny kill each other a la Azor Ahai. The’ll probably just have Cersei kill herself and blow up the thrown with wildfire or something. F these showrunnners.

This is what happens when you dont have the books completed for this universe and when you have a universe as complex as martin's.

That’s half of it, the other half is that now they just want to play to fans. They said they decided Arya would do the deed in 2016 because that would be “super badass” or something like that. I can’t imagine how two people so acquainted with the story would make that decision. They must be verifiably retarded.
...and yea I am melting

Do you think Martin would have written the NK's death anything close? This season is just the producers and show writers trying to quickly wrap up Martin's world. I had a feeling there were going to be some stupid turns.

If thats the route youre taking on Prophecy building.....Melisandre told Arya in season 3 she would shut many eyes. Brown, green and blue. Which is what she told her before she said what do you say to death. Not Today.

Too bad NK was kilt by a frickin midget.

you mean the one who is arguably the most dangerous person on the show when it comes to killing people??? then yeah....i guess he did

Well the NK is a show invention, he isn’t in the books, at least not yet. On one hand no, I can not see GRRM doing what D&D did in the show. He seems to like to have prophecy come true but in fun and twisting ways, Arya ending the WWs isn’t prophecy coming true in any way at all...and in that sense that’s also something I could see GRRM doing, like a 10% chance of it, to say something like “Prophecy is sometimes bullshite”. I think that’s the direction he’s going with the Game of Thrones thing, at the end nobody will have it.
You’re right about forecasting the stupid turns. Everyone should have seen it coming from how they handled the Dorne plot and their removal of the Blackfyres. It’s best to just view this as something separate from the books which makes it fine I guess, even good, but not great.

Yea, that was a D&D invention not a GRRM thing IIRC. They shoehorned their own shiddy prophecy in to the story and it ate away at everything else like a cancer.

Did it fail to answer some questions people have wanted answers to for a long time? Yeah
Did it play it safe AF with the characters? Yeah
Are the prophesies of azor ahai meaningless on the show? Yeah
Was deus ex Arya retarded? Yeah
But were you expecting some deep and winding answer to it all? Dabid and Dabid have already proven without book material, alls they can do is make average to subpar episodes with plot holes. For instance, wtf happened in the hall with the hound, melisandre, and the whites? How did they not die there?
I found it to be a decent episode because I was not expecting the motive for the whites to be revealed, much less make sense. I expected them to play it safe with the characters.
You had your expectations way too high after the last couple seasons. After they butchered stannis' character and had him burn his daughter you should've known.
I can appreciate the dothraki dying so fast because it's supposed to show how dangerous the whites are.
Battle still doesn't top helms deep for me. Way too many quick camera cuts

Yea my expectations were too high but even from the perspective of a strictly show-only fan I’d still be mad. Everything that was built up to for years was just discarded casually. Bran did nothing. Jon and Danny, more or less, did nothing. The only person who had a compelling, sense-making arc end was Mel.
...and yea, Helm’s deep this was not. Plot was shite. Pacing was...ok. Cinematography was all over the place, half the time it was amazing the other half too dark and fast. The only thing outstanding was the score.
