The front ledge/railing is 4 feet high, so I need something that puts my eye level above 4 feet.

You can just lay on top of me in the hammock.

There should be some premade hammock things. Just hook the chain up on higher links. True problem will be getting in and out. Might need a step ladder.

Exactly. Which is why I need a stand that is stable, but higher off the ground. Most stands are low and flat, even for little hammocks. I don't need a big Pawley's Island Hammock... I just want to read a book in my hammock and take naps while looking out over the city and catching the breeze.

I tried taking a picture but then everyone would know exactly where I live. And all of the pre-made ones are too low to the ground.

It isn't like someone would back channel to picture to gain your information, to then post on the SECr, or on another website right? People aren't that crazy, are they?

A base like that, with a higher pitch to the arms that come out of each intersection is basically what you're looking for? Hooks that are around 5 feetish off the ground.

ETA: Picture all fricked up. Think one beam across and two little beams coming off with like 120 degrees between them.

I figure one of the ladies reading will let their curiosity get the better of them eventually.

Wouldn't the hooks have to be higher? How much do you sink with a hammock when you lay in it?

Depends on how heavy you are

Possibly. Depends on how long the rope is on each side that connects the hammock to the hook. Plus your eye-level isn't going to be quite as low as your body level.

I would have to see the hammock in action to really say.
