The interesting thing to me is how very much this sounds like a thread on climate change. The same rhetorical arguments, denial of science, denial of facts, and even conspiracy theories (the scientists are out to get us). Swap out the words and flip the response proportions you absolutely have a climate change thread.

Has an actual climatologist come into the thread at one point or another?

Well maybe we'd be able to afford those supplies if you and I weren't draining gubmint resources.

This is why we can't have nice things, don't you see

No, but I post in those a lot on the denier side. The strange thing about those threads is that the deniers are the ones coming in with the science while the alarmists just drone on about racism, big oil, and 'consensus'

I've heard compelling arguments from both camps, even some that say global warming is actually good for growth of species and that global cooling is what has killed everything.

My thought though: Is I think humanity can survive global cooling right now, I'm very uncertain with global warming.

Humanity thrived during the Medieval Warm Period which was much warmer than today. The population of Europe soared and grapes were grown as far north as central England. Malaria and yellow fever virtually disappeared for generations. Greenland was actually green.
