you're either an alter or one of the bigger tools I've ever seen on here, and I've seen quite a bit of losers come and go from this board

seriously, who makes fun of Athens, Georgia?

UGA not ranked higher than Clemson in engineering which is what I majored in. They just started engineering at uga two years ago.

I concede UGA's women studies program is better. lol

I have always been able to get interviews and job offers with Clemson degree. I suspect it would be the same with a degree from other universities. in the end you have to sell yourself because employers don't care about what college, they view them all the same, except some of the HBC which are diploma mills where SAT scores are not required, etc, and some of the small obscure colleges nobody ever heard of.

Have I made fun of it? All I said is it is overhyped and posted a couple of pictures of it which you can judge for yourself. Plus I prefer Clemson.

This conversation started with me observing ATL is a college town as much as Athens for which I was viciously attacked. Yet ATL has more colleges and many young people prefer a big ol city atmosphere.

Pretty sure downtown ATl and buckhead have more bars than Athens. lol And no REM and B52s. :)

All flagship state schools have them. Lord knows the guidos that roam our campus.

It's like a more advanced version of Monteg.

architecture? I don't care outside of engineering because that was my major, and don't care about liberal arts programs, and business programs are same everywhere, it isn't rocket science. I guarantee you that business major employers don't care where interviewees went to college at. lol

I'd rather not talk about Clemson, surprised it was getting targeted prior to me posting on this thread given it isn't SEC. Never in all my days would have thought an Alabama person would ridicule the academics of a Clemson. lol I never ridiculed Alabama despite the stereotypes.

WTF is all this Clemson shite? I should have never mentioned them when I started this thread... though I imagine this Clemson tool would have still found his way into the thread to argue about their greatness.

You get out of my thread. You get out now.

And yet here you are, posting on an SEC board.

ESPN told me only good football is SEC football. :)

I like football and I like talking about the south. Makes sense I would post here. Plus Clemson plays more SEC teams than any other non SEC program.

Your opinion means shite when you value Statesboro as anything other than a glorified truck stop.

To me, a city with a mall and big box stores your definition.isn't really a college town per the definition of a college town that you are alluding to.

Good tune.

No Clarke county Wal-mart

Wife and I are moving back to Athens when we retire, or rather Watkinsville.

Is Athens liberal, big time. Is Athens unique/entertaining/enlightening/weird/casual/anti-rat race/traffic tolerable/non-racist/affordable/energetic/ and cutting edge, big time.

I fight Atlanta traffic about once a month. 10 mph. Every time. I can detour through Athens and can get to north Georgia quicker.

Atlanta offers a lot of opportunity, but I would never fight that traffic daily.

I don't care for some of their methodology, especially the "prestige", "costs", and "diversity" categories. (The selectivity one can be thrown out period because it's too easy for a university to manipulate.) Don't get me wrong -- I think UF is probably the best public university in the conference, overall, though UGA and TAMU can legitimately beg to differ and I'd even agree with them in many specific circumstances. So my problem isn't with the results, just the means of achieving those results.

Edit: Incidentally, I did my grad work at UNC, so I'm happy with the results. Still not sold on the methodology.

I used to work for a Fortune 500 company that would bring in engineers from GT, MIT, West Point and Rensselaer. After a project was done, it was my job to see if they could manage a union shop. Never had a Clemson ME/EE.

Most of my electricians were former Navy Chiefs. Submariners. They would run circles around the EEs.

Those guys were like herding cats, but I'll take them any day over an engineer.

its campus has a good rep across the country, plus it is near Savannah which is about the only thing cool about GA. lol

I always been surprised GA's premiere college isn't in Savannah. I guess you could say the same about SC with Charleston.

electrical engineers are not electricians, so yeah, electricians run circles around EE's for electrician jobs.

An engineer managing an "union shop" isn't really doing engineering.

Athens seem pretty run of the mill to me. Run of mill isn't a bad thing. I saw a lot of the same chains that you see everywhere else.

I'm not looking for liberal places. lol 'Entertaining' and 'enlightening' seems like bit of a stretch, especialy considering no. of bars and REM/B52s seem to be the accolades most often used.

Clemson fought a Walmart too and they located it about 15 miles away and you can't even see from the state highway. there is a new walmart market coming.

it is top 10 most popular college in country based on one list I saw. Regardless, it would probably be my preference, given no larger school in GA is near the mountains.

If Athens was less built up and less gritty , I would like it better.

I actually visited Mercer, and the old part of Mercer was pretty nice. A rip off in tuition though for a school that doesn't have much name recogition outside of GA.
