1/29 Deep South Snow Potential

GFS (U.S.), Euro, UKMet, ICON (Germany) and CMC (Canada) models are all showing a statewide snowfall of 2-4" for Tennessee next Tuesday. Additionally, most of Mississippi and Alabama are expected to receive snowfall from this system. Kentucky may receive a decent amount as well.
If the models verify, Vanderbilt, State, Ole Miss and Alabama might be closed next week. Tennessee and Kentucky will close if totals exceed 5". I'm wondering if this will affect basketball schedules.

Local weather men here seem pretty dismissive about Tuesday other than the biting cold. Early predictions are for under 2 inches which is not a big deal for Kentucky.
I always hope for an epic blizzard though... bury this town so I can skip work and sleep in for a change.

Totals will be higher for Southern and Eastern KY than elsewhere. Louisville may not receive much from this one.
Knoxville is forecast for 2-4". We haven't had anything above 3" in 2 years, so I'll be thrilled if this turns out.

SC doesn't have to worry. The hell in the upstate keeps the entire state too warm for snow.

Fingers crossed. Tuesday and Wednesday look frigid. Hell of a swing in temp from Monday

Hmm...I'm sure it'll change a dozen times between now and then but the extended forecast for my part of SC (Aiken SC/Augusta GA area) they're calling for snow starting the night of Feb 1st and continuing through the morning of Feb 3rd with ~4 inches of accumulation. This place will absolutely shut the frick down when they get wind of that.
Walmart will be a riot zone.

We've had six snowfalls this Winter, all but one being little more than dustings. The one accumulation was <2". We don't anticipate much from this latest weather system other than bitter cold temps. I'd rather have snow and warmer temps than several subzero days in a row.

You don't like frost bite and dying alternators?

Here in NWA we started getting flurries of snow around noon today and last I checked it was coming down pretty thick at this point. Looks like 1/4" so far.

I don't like being house bound. My dogs won't go out in frigid temps so I have to hike alone. Much prefer the snow and my dogs.
