PM Two Deep
No surprises on offense and what looks like a lot of competition on defense.
I like seeing Kelly pushing Young. If they can both play at a comparable level and take the next step rushing the passer, Batoon will be able to pick his spots on when to send his LBs on 3rd down.
Smith's two deep at LB is interesting. Much like Luper, he tends to have his primary guys and they get the reps because they are communicating and setting the front. I don't think Missouri has ever had four guys at the top of the chart at LB going into week 1.
Tre'Vez Johnson is going to play a lot behind both Carnell and Charleston. Burks and Flagg round out Batoon's room.
Pogue's two deep will be the one everyone should
be watching the first 4 weeks. Not an easy job replacing the guys he lost but his coaching chops are sound this is a pretty good group of athletes playing against a top 5 skill group every day.

I'm a little surprised DeLoach pushed to the "OR" category against Pride. I know they said he was having a good camp but I thought that would mean he was a solid #2.

DeLoach spent a year learning the craft and watching Rake, KAD and Norwood prep for games. He was a border line D1 track prospect in 3 jumping events. That kind of lower body twitch with sound technique from a 6' CB is hard to over look. We will see how he plays the run. Rake and KAD were two of the best at it along with elite cover skills.
Pogue knows what he is doing coaching corners. He's another hire that seems to be working out very well.

Any chops on Batoons schemes? I think we got skills, how it's deployed is the unknown for me..

Jesus, Peagler is a big boy. And Reichart is even bigger.

I can see Jacobs' snaps increasing with Smith's injury. Not because they play the same position, but because Jacobs seems like he might be the best pass rusher of the LB quartet.

He's a havoc forward 3-3-5 guy so lots of blitzing with the Mike and Star safety. They aren't basing out of that defense but I expect him to bring the blitz concepts along with him.

I could see that happening. He is very familiar with all of the calls, he is familiar with the pre snap holds and post motion adjustments and plays downhill.
I'm sure not how much blitzing they will have to do though. Just going off of what I have heard on few pod casts from guys that have watched some of the practices, Zion Young is that guy and the DEs as a unit are very disruptive. If Batoon has two potential All SEC defensive ends, he can do a lot of things with the Safeties and LBs to give those two guys a chance to get home vs sending the MLB through the A gaps or the WLB off the edge and leaving the seams undefended for 15 yds or the flat wide open.

Bill Murray St.'s first 3rd and long, Mizzou's D lineup is:
Young Williams Kelly Walker
Carnell Newson Jacobs
Norwood Charleston Burkes Pride
If Jacobs is who I think he is, that's 3 pretty damn good pass rushers from the second level to choose from, and several combinations for stunts to go along with the 4 down lineman.
And we're not even talking about the dude who probably has more talent than anyone else in the DE room. I figure it's just a matter of time before WN has a role in this defense.

You are probably right in that Batoon isn't going to change his spots and not bring a lot of pressure. I just hope he doesn't need to against the Racers.
If Nwaneri forces his coach's hand, I will be pleasantly surprised. If he was winning vs Membou, Bryant, and Richardson, it would be very hard to keep the guys covering the team from hearing about it.
