Great start for the team. Tilmon figuring out how to put that game on the court every night moves the needle significantly.

The 1st half was probably the best half of basketball I've seen them play.

Man, Tilmon was dominant tonight.

If he’s on the floor and we can run the offense through him then we might have something here

Cuonzo is trying to give us a basketball team anyway.

Really nice win. Xavier’s 1st second half field goal came with about 10 minutes left in the game.

If they can get that kind of perimeter defense the rest of the way they are going to surprise a couple of teams. Not sure what they can do if Tilmon racks up the fouls in SEC play but it was a fun game to watch.

Maybe the team won’t be as shitty as you all predicted.

Looks like a testament to CCMs coaching. Now the man just needs to recruit talent that doesn’t get injured.

Possibly.

I’ve seen too much horrendous ball from this group to buy in just yet.

Let’s get this Illini monkey of our backs

Good game all around....a little sloppy the last 7 minutes but a good game still.....glad they let Tilmon play a little instead of calling little pussy fouls.

Is that coaching or just deficient talent? I’ve honestly seen bad Tarheel basketball.
Really bad. And it had to do with talent. Two required things to do damage in college ball. You need a high quality PG and someone that can naturally create his own shot. The rest can be taught.

Pinson made one pass that I haven't seen made since Pressey. Not saying he'll be that good at dishing the ball but it's been a while since I said "Whoa! I didn't even see that passing lane."

The question is: With what consistency will his teammates be ready to convert passes like that into buckets vs. "frick, didn't see that comin'?"

They will learn to be ready. He’s had 4-5 turnovers this year on that type of pass. Mostly because teammates weren’t ready.

So should he slow his roll until they're ready or just keep doing his thing until his teammates' skills adjust?

Honest question that I don't know the answer to. Maybe it's a little of both.

A lot of his passes are meant for guys to be moving instead of standing still. Some of his passes are to spots were the guy is suppose to be moving to and not for a guy to just stand around waiting on a pass. That no-look pass that he threw to Tilmon was Pressey-like and Tilmon was ready and scored moving to the basket.

Remember when "White Chocolate" Jason Williams sucked playing street ball until his team learned to pay attention and keep moving even when it seemed like Williams was paying no attention to them. Then all of a sudden Williams was a genius with the ball.

He needs to keep doing his thing. Most of this roster is set to play together for at least 3 more seasons. They will adjust and once they do the team will be much better offensively.
