Steve Walentik did a blog piece on how the basketball is shaping up this summer.
It's worth a read, but here some highlight I picked out.

I caught up with [Haith] then, and he sounded optimistic about the work he and his staff have done this summer on the recruiting trail as they try to finish off the 2014 class — they’re believed to be pursuing top targets such as Mississippi shooting guard Devin Booker, Illinois small forward Josh Cunningham and Georgia forward Jakeenan Gant — while getting a jump on building a class for 2015 that could include Missouri prospects such as Hickman’s Jimmy Whitt, Lee’s Summit’s Drew Lock and Blue Springs South’s Kevin Puryear.

I think Jordan Clarkson, Jabari Brown and Earnest Ross can all go for 30. They can have a night where they can get 30 points. When you’ve got three guys like that on your team, that’s pretty good.”
quote:
Wes Clark spent the past month mending from arthroscopic knee surgery, but Haith said the procedure was precautionary and was glad he could get it out of the way during the summer so that he’ll be ready when practice starts in the fall.

Post has added 17 pounds of muscle after losing 22 pounds of fat since he arrived on campus at the beginning of June.

Williams, a slight 6-foot-9 forward, has gained 14 pounds this summer and now weighs in at 221.

Speaking of Bowers he just signed to play in Israel! Congrats to him I wish him a long successful career and that he stays healthy. He was always one of my favorite tigers

Damn so will this team be competing for the SEC or at least in the Top 4-6?? I thought Mizzou basketball was going to take a hit because of the losses and transfers. Seems like by reading all of that they'll be competing again. Yes I said competing even though Mizzou finished further down than I expected. Those close road losses to teams we should beat hurt Mizzou in the standings.

They will almost always compete. It will be the rare year that they don't. That doesn't mean they'll win it, but I'd be shocked/pissed if they finish outside of the top 6 in any year.
Just too many unknown pieces to know exactly how much they'll compete this year. What talent they lost in Pressey I think will be made up for in a more "team" approach, particularly from the point. Obviously, everyone will be chasing UK, but I'd certainly throw Mizzou's name in the hat to finish top 3-5.
