I just really don't like the fact that in his 1 year at Utah St the offense wasn't particularly good.

The offense was more efficient in his year at USU. dealt with lots of injuries and scored around 29 ppg. Do that at Mizzou this year and you have a 10 win team.

I'm also taking into consideration, the talent level at UT State. The majority of the team, are NR athletes.

IDK that you can extrapolate that directly over to the SEC.

They were 9th in Total O in the Mountain West.

IDK, maybe he'll workout. We'll see. I'll give him a fair shot.

What did he do at OU that wouldn't work in the SEC?

So you love the BO hire but hate the Heupel hire?

Didn't say I hated the Heupel hire, but I'm notin love with it.

I don't understand what you find so funny though?

"I'm really surprised Odom is not targeting someone with more of a pro style background. Seems they are recruiting for that system more than a wide open spread."

Where did Heupel fall in relation to D. Murray and A. Peterson at OU?

I think people put WAY too much stock into experience. Nobody has any, until they get some.

So relevant experience isn't a great predictor of success?

Going with a Rookie coach, having an experienced OC is almost a must.

Yes, Odie will get OJT as time goes on.

So having proven experience around him, during this learning process, can only help.

Just one mans opinion

It's not a prerequisite nor does it guarantee success.

You also don't know how experience at a lower level will translate to the SEC.

I like Odom. Always have. He's got the "it" factor imo and he's succeeded at everything he's ever done in coaching.

So no, I don't put a lot of stock in the experience thing. Just not a big deal to me but you know what they say about opinions and assholes.

I find it funny you love the hire where the guy has no experience but hate the hire of a guy who has led a blue blood program to championships.

This is a little disingenuous though
