This year especially, with new coaches, personnel and schemes...it would have been nice to start with the gimmes. But it is what it is.

I like the new offense, though we need to see if you can get a running game push against an SEC team to see if it will really pay off this season. If it helps any the new Arkansas can't get a persistent push either. Going to be some growing pains this season.
My concern is the D-line... the one thing I didn't think would concern Missouri this year. Chaney usually comes out of the gate with a pretty good game plan, he falls apart when the other team adjusts and shuts down what is working. If Missouri can weather the early storm and make the needed adjustments then Georgia could be in a ton of trouble.
I don't want to get banned... but I think Georgia has the edge in this game unless your D-line plays well.

You won't get banned for stating the truth respectfully.

This is 100% the truth.

What we should hope for is a solid season for Mizzou (7 or 8 wins) as well as a VERY good season for WVU to explain away our loss in week 1
Definitely. I said somewhere earlier that I think if we played WV in week 6 instead of week 1, we might have a different outcome. We just had too much new for a decent P5 in week 1. We needed the powder-puff games early. Get in rhythm and build confidence.
Before i saw some of the scheduled opponents play I thought there was no way to beat lsu, uga or uf. Now I think there is't a game on the schedule that isn't winnable, but probably not by large margins. That means they have to not making mental errors. Limited turnovers and penalties are what give a team like Mizzou a chance to win the east. I do think they will drop 3 or 4 more because of mistakes, but who knows? I'll be pleasantly surprised if we only lose or 2 more or better.

Georgia Run vs Mizzou Front 7 decide the game. We've seen Chubb and Co can win a game on their own. Our defense seems to have taken large steps backward from last season. Now, if Nicholls can slow them down, it must mean there is something that can be done to slow/stop them.
Offense has to finish drives. The Return of the Big Play was welcome last week, but that won't be so easy this week.
Kind of curious to see how this one goes. First true road game for Georgia. Our offense is still a complete mystery besides "We Wanna Go Fast".
Night game will add to the atmosphere and Home Field advantage.
Honestly going in with no expectations...especially since I saw the line open at -6.

What a lot of Mizzou fans do not mention is that, with the new defensive coaches and coordinator, we have left the attacking style of defense for a read & react style of defense. Add to that new scheme the new verbiage and calls; still confusing to our defense. I am very surprised we had so many gap assignment problems and missed assignments in the first two games. Mizzou D has been on the field way too much; their performance does not match their talent. I would have stayed with the more traditional Mizzou attack style, at least for this year with these D linemen we have.

The thing about that is both ASU and TCU had more sacks per game last year.
Give players a few weeks to adjust, they might actually make the defense better. The secondary did have 17 PBUs last week.

I live in Atlanta. I just got off the phone with a guy (a new customer) who is a "recruiter" for UGA. His specialty is QB's and he claimed to me to be responsible for Stafford and Eason's signings at UGA.
I asked him what he thought of Drew Lock, and what did he predict for this weekend?
He said, "you are gonna kick our arse."
Take it for what it's worth. :-)

If Odom took over the program why didn't he bring in his guy to call his scheme? Mizzou had an impressive D last year. Why change things up.

Sounds sketchy

This part I can believe.

This is a scheme that he wanted to implement last year. Or at least some of it. He said that yesterday, but he didn't have time

Or he is protecting his guys.

The non garbage time stats were actually pretty good. EMU had 3 runs of over 5 yards and their QB was 5-16 passing.
EMU isn't any good, so we will see how good the D is this week. I wouldn't mind seeing more DL pressure, but the back 7 had 17 PBUs last week.

Perhaps that was the source of conflict between Odom and Kul.

I hope the guys get the defensive scheme really soon. At least it's not a lack of talent but execution.

quote:Absolutely. That's my frustration. It's in the execution, and maybe the attitude? They look a little lost, and a lot passive - not playing with the aggression I'm used to seeing. No fire. Hope that changes.

Interesting. I wonder how he has time this year but not last year
