These guys have shown more guts and tenacity tonight than any Haith team in the last two years.

As a Mizzou fan, I'm jealous as hell.

Tip of the hat to the effort, win or lose in OT tonight.

Meh. I see the whole MU vs. SLU thing like I do STL vs. KC. It's possible for me to like both cities and it's possible for me to pull for both schools....if they're not playing each other.

BTW - Rob Loe was exactly like Janko when he first came to SLU. Thin, no inside game, liked to shoot. I would have loved to have seen Janko stay, put on some beef like Loe did, learn to play decently inside, offensively and defensively, and still be deadly from outside. His outside shot wasn't good enough for a swing man, but was plenty good if he could have transformed into a big that can shoot.

Sports are so strange.

Who would you rather have?

Clarkson or McCall?
Brown or Jett?
Ross or Barnett?
Williams or Evans?
Rosburg or Loe?

I'd give SLU Loe over Rosburg. SLU may have the edge with Evans because of his experience, but Williams probably comes in with more talent, so maybe a push.

Yet SLU > MU.

One of the things that makes sports so great but yet so frustrating.

No joke, I don't see the point.

SLU is no threat to anything Mizzou sports related. They have good seasons every once in a while and I enjoy watching them play solely because they are a St. Louis team.

What made this SLU bunch good is the overall tenacity of their team defense.

If the Tigers played that kind of defense they would have made the Tourney with ease.

And playing team basketball.

Literally watching our team, we don't even play the game. It's dribble dribble do something stupid.

Eh. They're not that good. They got taken to overtime by a team we beat on the road. They're overachievers for their talent level, but they're not really what I'd call a good team. I picked them to lose tonight and I'm guessing they'll be beaten pretty easily in the next round.

Define good 808? I don't think they're a top 10 team but I do think they're a top 20 team. I also think that because of the way they play, defensively and offensively, they are probably about 20 spots higher than their talent is on the floor, if that makes sense. It's kind of the point I was getting at. I don't think there's anything special about their basketball talent. But I do think there is something special about the way they play.

I'm not sure they're a top 20 team. I would agree with the rest.

They actually move the ball on offense and play tough defense. We, well we don't do either of those things.

SLU had a great comeback thanks to NC St bricking it from the free throw line. 14 of 29 in the 2nd half. I wonder what they were in the last 4 minutes? They have 5 seniors on this team that are their 4 leading scorers and 6th. These 5 have played together for 4 years. They are a well coached team. Tell me what a great coach they have after next season.

In many ways they remind me of Haith's first year. A very senior laden team where the whole is greater than the sum of their parts. They won't be as good next year as they were this year, but they'll be competitive. I'm not sold on Crews but I think hiring Calbert Cheaney was an interesting hire as an assistant. Have heard him speak a few times and really wouldn't be surprised if, with time, he gets his chance at some small school.

SLU was almost as bad from the free throw line.

I didn't say they have a great coach. I said they actually play basketball, unlike us.

I'm sure they won't be as good next year. I'm also sure they will continue to move the ball on offense and play better defense than we do.
