Yeah that was one of the more bizarre umpiring things I've seen. His zone was completely different in the first than it was the rest of the game. Went from a generous/large zone in the first to the opposite end of the spectrum with a brutally tight zone the last 8 innings. Hard to imagine the same umpire can change his zone that drastically over the course of 2 innings.
That being said, Cueto continued to be trash as he has been for his entire KC tenure save about 3 starts. That trade has turned out to be an epic disaster.

Yost needs to pull Morales to the side and tell him next round of BP, he is going to have a couple of students. Moose and Hoz. I think Morales can help their plate approach. Morales has a really good approach to hitting. He seems to be the opposite of Hoz and Moose. He almost forces pitchers to pitch him his pitch. That and he's just damn good at hitting. I think Hoz and Moose could benefit from a couple small adjustments.

You know. I've not been a big Rios fan this year. I just felt like he didn't fit in to well with the character of this team. Then I seen footage of him in the dugout this post season. He was like a little kid. He is having so much fun right now. All the pressure is off of him. He's finally fitting into the character of the team. He's having fun and he's also producing. That coupled with this being his first post season and possibly WS, I just feel great for the guy. He's finally almost there. He also could have went to other teams for more money, but he seen the chemistry of this team and felt KC was his shot at post season and thatcs awesome. He chose his team not for the money but for the game and to accomplish his goal.
Kudos to Rios and did any one notice that he returned the favor to the jays fans and did to them what Batista did to the Royals fans in game two. He decided to keep the foul ball instead of throwing it to a fan. Batista's such an egotistical arse.

Surprised Blue Jays offense has been so quiet.Who is your pitching coach?

Dave Eiland. He's very good at what he does. Came from the Yankees organization several years ago.

He has figured something out to shut that lineup down.Might as well buy your World Series tickets.Blue Jays pitching is so awful they have to have a position player finish the game.Congrats.

All the media has talked about is how GOOD toronto is with their backs against the wall. Well, here they are. It's win or go home today. We'll see what happens. I'd just as soon the Royals win it today rather than bring it back here. But they don't talk about that. Thtas alright though.

It's not hard. Volquez started it in game two. Pitch to the outer part of the plate. Go for the corners. That's where Cueto got in trouble in game three. The ump was giving him the corner in the 1st inning then took it away. Forced him to come back in on the plate. Ump wasn't even giving him the edge anymore. Put it over the plate towards the middle and toronto will tattoo any pitcher. But it's all about working the outside edge of the plate. I think they learned that from the tejas Rangers Hammels. We pitches them inside in during regular season and they faired pretty well.

Not going, but will be watching. There is a chance of rain Friday. That would suck if it rains.

I know it's not all on the umps. But is it just me or are some of these umpires highly inconsistent? Yeh, probably just me. The umpire didn't hit a batter yesterday but did miss an obvious strike in that big inning for the jays. It was so obvious that the commentators didn't want to carry on talking about it. Give credit to toronto though, they are still a dangerous team.
Game 6. Time to wrap this thing up. Looks like Price vs Ventura. Ack.

Anyone going to Game 6?
I would but our flight leaves for Nashville tomorrow. We will be packing a 3x5 Royals flag to take into the stands at the Mizzou game. Hopefully it will land on TV before the game because the Royals had clinched back to back WS appearances the day before...

I don't want this to be misconstrued as an excuse because we would've lost anyways only putting up one run. That being said, I've seen a theme of umpires this postseason with normal strike zones in the first inning or two and then suddenly start squeezing the zone in the middle of the game and forcing the pitcher to throw down the middle of the plate. The inconsistency is infuriating to see, and I can only imagine how the pitchers feel. If they're going to call a tight zone, then do it from the beginning and don't change it halfway through the game.

Thank you. No really. I thought maybe I'm just being a homer, but it sure seemed like about the time our pitchers were zeroing in, bam, the strike zone shrank. Volquez didn't have his best stuff, but he wasn't stinking up the place either.
I really feel like one of two things is going on there. With the reputation that fanbase now has, I think those umpires are being intimidated. I also think they get their ears bent alittle by the jays coaching staff.
I will be critical of Yost though. I feel he should have come out of the dugout at that point that the ball that have should have been a call a strike was called. Not for a pitching change, that should have come after jumping down that umps throat.

Take us home, Ventura.
Can't watch the game tonight, but I hope I return from my other engagement to see news of a second consecutive WS berth
