We know about MPJ...and now Jontay's knee. Also, sister Cierra recently retired due to knee/ACL injury. And sister Bri retired after her 5th (!!!) ACL tear.

If I was an NBA coach, I wouldn't draft anyone whose last name began with "P."

Poor kids. Such potential.

Oh yeah. Fire Michael Porter Senior!!

there have been studies on veganism and these types of injuries. some will argue they are funded by the meat and dairy industries, but the studies are out there.

There are a lot of Vegans in the NBA. They don’t have higher injury rates than non vegans.

Quality of food does matter, and not all vegans get enough if the essential proteins. It’s possible the Porters fit in that group, you would really need a lot of information that we don’t have to prove it.

Like who?

Not sure I buy it considering Porter Jr changed his diet and is no longer vegan. Why change if the diet was working?

There are others, I would never do it because as Navy says ribs are great.

it does seem beyond bad luck. either genetics, diet, or both. but I'd guess a vegan diet during growth years could create problems. you'd have to look at how long those NBA players have been vegan, and since what age.

He’s probably said why in an interview.

you can get every protein you need from legumes and whole grains, throw in high quality vegetables and you are eating better than any meat eater.

and ribs smell like a dead animal.

Not after you smoke them on a Yoder YS640 with a blend of apple and sugar maple pellets for 4 hours @ 225°F.

I don't think the vegan deficiencies have to do with macronutrients. Pretty sure it is the micronutrients. (Yes, vegans get far more micronutrients than most people. But there are some in animal foods that they miss.)

In the same way that diabetes, obesity and heart disease are now viewed as conditions caused by long-term vitamin and mineral deficiency, if any diet is lacking for a long time, you won't reverse the shortcoming in a short period of time. A person with low vitamin D levels in their blood would have to take extremely large amounts of D for many months to raise their levels PARTIALLY towards the norm.

Found this and the answer looks to lean more towards yes, poor genetics are a likely cause. Given the entire damn family has suffered one or more, Porter Jr may be next in the pipe if his back ever heals enough to play.

I used to do that. Still smells like a dead pig, and smoke. If anything it smells more like pig cause it's hot.
I Still do it to chicken. Smells like chicken.

If that was a better way he wouldn't have changed. Some high dollar doctor got in his ear and convinced him his vegan diet wasn't good enough.

It would be interesting to know what was said.
