Thought I would post this over here to see if anyone else has heard anything like this.
Pinkel Done?

Ok I know these posts are generally regarded as crap and rightfully so, as I cannot personally verify this. You are free to make what you want of it. However, I have heard rumors from multiple places that Pinkel is likely to step down at the conclusion of this season due to personal-life issues as well as Athletic Department pressure in response to those issues. I won't elaborate on that seeing as I don't have a direct connection, and have heard this through friends of people in the know. Make what you want of it, but I wouldn't be surprised by it personally, and I felt that way even before I heard these rumors.

Where's MUBobby. He knows all.

Quite the rumor, Pinkel does seem pretty unhappy this season though.

I don't see him stepping down because of a rough season. If he has other shite going on in his life I have no idea, but I don't see him stepping down because we go 6-6 in our first year in the SEC.

If MUBOOBY posts it, I'll believe it.

For some reason I don't think this rumor would exist if the season was going better..
Although, I remember hearing rumors of rumors (but no actual rumor) about some bad things that connected the divorce and dui. So this rumor isn't out of the blue, I just don't think it's legit.
I almost don't even want to ask this because I don't have much faith in this 'rumor'. But I wonder if they'd give the job to Steck? (as unpopular as that would be).

If he leaves we need to get Strong from Louisville. He's lathered in SEC ties. If Pinkel leaves, time to go all out IMO.

Oh I agree completely. I wonder if they'd keep this 'family' thing going though?
Guess really no point in going there yet, especially from a tb rumor.

I love what GP has done, and I'm not ready for him to leave just yet. I think he can do something I the SEC if he's given the requisite time. I'd love for him to stay and win something before he leaves.

If Pinkel decides to leave this hire will become the biggest hire of Alden's tenure as AD and I'm actually scared because he never goes after a known and respected coach. He always searches for a diamond in the rough which will I think ultimately cost him his job. What do you think of my sig image guys

Looks like Truman is throwing a turd. Other than that, it's the tits.

That's actually his pawl and didn't want to cut it off by erasing it but until you said something it now does look like he is getting ready to throw a turd at the gator before his hanging

These rumors are crazy on the surface but I can't deny they have had some truth to them lately at Mizzou.
I still remember people talking about GP cheating on his wife. I thought, "nah, no way. not his character."
Then the rumors came out that GP was going to see his mistress when he got his DUI. Again, I thought no way.
Then it came out he was separated. Then came the divorce.
I don't know if this latest one is true or not, but my guess is there was at least a sit down with Alden about getting everything off the field taken care of and getting back to taking care of the program.
Then again, Pinkel is close to the age he originally said he would like to retire but that was when he was married and he had promised his wife he wouldn't work forever. That may not matter now.

If the rumors you're talking about are what supposedly led Alden to have a sit down with GP, I really don't get it. Unless he was cheating on his wife with a coed that he subsequently hired on his staff and wrecked his bike with her on the back and then lied about it all, I don't get why any of his personal life has anything to do with his job. I'll take it at face value that he cheated on his wife, that he is divorced and that he got a dui while leaving his mistress' place....that's all old news as I don't see what it has to do with coaching the team or even representing the University. That's why I don't put much stock into the rumors. It just doesn't make sense.
Personally, I hope GP sticks around a few more years IF he's willing to make some changes. I think he's earned it and one tough year in our first year in the SEC isn't reason enough to fire him or for him to leave. Especially after we rescue the season by beating Florida this weekend.

Just to let everyone know and play devils advocate, i read on PM to expect some coaching staff changes. and someone who said they know CP, through friends, said this season has actually made him want to coach another 3-4 years because of the adversity and not wanting to go out this way. It'd be a real tough loss to have a new coach after this season though

That is a silly question. From a high level view, it is obvious GP isn't focused this season. This team doesn't resemble anything we have seen from MU over the last several years. The team is so disconnected.
Is he distracted by his personal life? If so, Alden would be prudent to let GP know he needs to get it together.
Posted on 11/2/12 at 10:12 am to notsince98
I don't doubt Alden sits and talks with GP, whether it's about his personal life or not, to discuss how to move the program forward. No this team doesn't resemble teams of the recent past. But this team has been decimated with injuries on the offensive line, frankly we have a mediocre QB and less than mediocre QB for backup, our WR's haven't lived up to billing and have dropped balls, we don't have depth on defense so they're gassed by the 4th quarter. I think all of those things play a bigger factor than who GP is fricking. If Alden is going to talk to him about anything, I would hope it's about being overly loyal to certain coaches, which it sounds may be the case if the other rumors are true.

what makes you think "who" GP is fricking is an issue?
Posted on 11/2/12 at 1:07 pm to notsince98
Not sure if you're asking me notsince. I don't think it matters one bit as long as it's not a Petrino situation where it's an employee under his supervision.
