No one knows yet what the roster will look like. There are a few safe assumptions I believe.
It’s safe to believe that MPJ goes pro.
It’s safe to believe that Geist, Puryear, CVL, Tilmon and Smith are back.
Watson, Pickett, Santos and Pinson will be new players.
Questions for Jontay (will he go pro) Nikko (does he want more playing time)
That leaves between 2-4 scholarships left to fill.

Nikko brings nothing to this team, but because he will be a senior he will probably be back. I wish that Kim Anderson could talk him in to coming to Pittsburgh St.

Nikko will be a junior. He’s also fine as a backup that has lays 10-15 minutes. He’s a good defender and good rebounder. With a better PG he could probably score some

If Nikko is defending on the perimeter, you have a problem with the defensive game plan.

Issue is Mizzou's defense does a lot of switching. Not hard to get a mismatch against Nikko.

Smith is 6'10 Yea? I'd imagine he'll get some of Nikko's minutes

Smith isn’t a 5. So unless Cuonzo wants to put in an entirely different offense and defense for the 5 or so minutes a game that both Jontay and Tilmon are out of the game I don’t see Smith taking his minutes.

Smith either takes minutes from Puryear or is out of the rotation until his junior season.

Respectfully, you're wrong. With the propensity of Tilmon and Porter to get in foul trouble, Cuonzo was able to utilize him in spot minutes to maximize what he could get out of Tilmon and Porter. Maybe with a year's growth and the game slowing down for Porter and Tilmon, maybe Nikko offers less, but he did fulfill a need this year.

Is it time to "suggest" to Smith that he's better elsewhere and free up another scholarship? We've kind of wasted one on him the last two years considering he hasn't sniffed the floor.

I want to see what Smith looks like playing for Cuonzo. I think he can be a really good bench player, especially if Christopher is successful at putting muscle on him. As Smith had already redshirted I would say he’s here 2 more seasons.

This.

Nikko is built to be the 5 on a 2/3 Zone team. Not a team playing 85% man defense.

Was he hurt this year? Hasn't he had 2 years to put on muscle? We were so damn thin on depth that if he were to be a good bench player I would have thought he could have played this year with all the foul trouble we'd get into.

He's fine for what we ask him to do. He'll never be a focal point of the team. I only ask him to go into games to buy minutes for Tilmon and Porter and use up all 5 of his fouls in 10 minutes. In other words, lean heavy on their bigs and don't let them score, even if it means hammering someone.

He tore his meniscus right before the season. So he was redshirted instead of just playing the last 10-12 games.

I hate to knock down players and I do once in a while, but Nikko is too slow and brings absolutely NOTHING to this team. I thought nobody could be as bad as the Haley twins, but......

I don't know what kind of game that Mitchell Smith has after 2 years of being injured, but if they don't see anything in practice I wish they try to free up his schollie, too. We need some guys(3,4,5) that can get to the basket and also have decent at least handles to get there and 2-3 point guards that can handle the ball and distribute.

That's wat I was saying. He can play D and rebound but only near the basket and only on one side. The play has to come to him. If he has to go to the ball by the time he get's there the rest of the players will be on the other end of the court.

Magic you might get you wish on Nikko, but not because Mizzou pushes him out the door. Nikko could transfer down to MVC or MAC school. He would start play 25 minutes per game dominate the boards and anchor the defense.

I don't dislike Nikko personally and I appreciate him sticking it out at Mizzou through all the turmoil, but him playing so slow and him not bringing anything against decent teams just frustrates me. He's not the only player that frustrates me.

When he committed to Mizzou I really liked his highlight, because he seemed to move well and even dominated other BIGS and he was a demon on defense.

These highlights of him in high school had me thinking of big things from him, but....

Sounds like part of your problem with Nikko is that you had unrealistic expectations for him coming in. He is ok as a backup that plays when needed. With Jontay and Tilmon already here Nikko is effectively the 3rd string center.
