Prior to his time at KU, Woodfin worked as the head strength and conditioning coach at Southern Miss, from 2015-16, and even served as USM’s interim director of athletics when that position became vacant.

Football Scoop named Woodfin the strength and conditioning coach of the year in 2014, when he worked at UAB.

Woodfin also spent three seasons as an assistant strength coach with the Green Bay Packers.

Solid background. Moves around every couple of years.

Here's a nice column on Woodfin on the difference he made in one year at UAB. LINK

And the one year difference he made Southern Mississippi the year before that. LINK

Any rumblings at all regarding the QB RB OL assistant searches? Candidates?

Luper is going to coach RBs.

Drink is the QB coach.

Wr and OL should be hired by Jan 6. No clue on candidates.

So is the thought the WR and OL coaches are still involved in bowl games?

If so where would you guess he's looking?

Drink said he wanted to have the positions filled by the end of the dead period.

Joe Brady for WR coach! That is my wish list. Can be Co-OC and be the wide receiver coach.

Here's an interview Gabe conducted with Coach Drink over the weekend. LINK

Talked quite a bit about recruiting and it sounds like he's going to make a big push in St. Louis, likely assigning Curtis Looper to try to make the inroads.

I don't have a good guess for either hire. I thought Elarbee might be a target but he was at Houston in 2013 when Harsin and Drink were in Jonesboogie. There's no connection. There's no connection between him and Brad Bedell(BSU OL coach) either. His OL coach at NC state is the OC at Louisville and his Wr coach is the coOC at NCState. I don't think either leave to join him.

His OL coach at BSU, Scott Huff, is the coOC OL coach at Washington. Their OC was just let go. I'm not sure what that means for Huff but he might be a potential target.

His WR coach at BSU, Junior Adams, is also on the Washington staff as the WR coach. Adams was fired at WKU after two seasons as the OC.

Given the offensive underperformance with the QB they had at Washington, I'm not sure what to think of either coach.

I just read on Football Scoop Arkansas picked off TE Coach Jon Cooper from UCFs staff. Thoughts?

Maybe Drink can raid them for Elarbee. They'll be playing at 1:30 this afternoon.

EDIT: It looks like Arky is closing in on Kendall Briles to be their OC.

This is going to turn into a pretty good rivalry after all.

So Arkie will Briles OC and Odom DC? Can't spin that as a bad thing.

I'm going to die laughing if he goes to OM instead.

I think both staffs are filling out nicely.

So Navy (or anyone)... wondering about Elarbee as the OL coach. I know he's the OC there at UCF though he doesn't call plays. When coaches are switching teams does the title mean much or is it strictly about the money?

I know Drink wants to run the ball and UCF is running the shite out of it today.

Having the coOC title justifies the money required to lure a coach away. Elarbee would a quality addition to the staff.

I'd say they already have the off-season championship locked up. Good thread topic for you JQ.

When Elarbee left Mizzou to join Heupel at UCF the o-linemen said that he wasn't a technician, but more of a rah rah guy and motivator that told his players "just go out and kick the guy's arse in front of you" No lie!
