I dunno, there are some who seem to think Odom "helped" Pittman while he was there.

Not all coaches are meant to be a HC; Odom maybe one of these.

Folks think Odom was the brains of the outfit, basically telling Pittman what do during games. That gained a lot of momentum after all the shine went off Kendall Briles thanks to the craptacular year TCU is having.
I do think Odom would be a better HC than Pittman, I love the Pittboss but he's clearly out of his comfort zone as a game day coach. That having been said... I don't think Arkansas fans can forget how absolutely miserable we were on defense when he was our DC that last year.

Here is Odoms problem as opposed to Drink...personality!
Drink recruited a kid here in Omaha, 3 years back. Kid didn't qualify academically, DeShawn Woods. I know the family, they loved Drink.
Odoms personality hurt his recruiting. But kids love him in the locker room.
Drink needed help with coordinators and replacing position coaches. He convinced good, young coordinators to come to Mizzou. There is even talk of them being poached already.
Odoms personality made it tough for good coaches to hitch their career to him. And without good help, you fail, much like Pittman.
The HC is the face but the assistants and recruits are the engine. You need a personality to recruit both.
