Namon Wright ?@kharyw · 27m
Thank you to all the coaches who've been apart of this process, but I'm a Tiger baby. I've decided to re-commit to the ZOU!

That gives us two players in the top 76 in the nation this year. We have another player coming in this weekend a PG that had originally committed to Wake Force, Mitchell. Would be nice to land him as well, and seems like it just may happen.

FREAKING KABOOM.

So basically our recruiting class is not only staying intact but possibly getting better (unless Kevin Punter turns out to be the next Paul O'Liney out of juco or something, but I don't think he's a huge loss in our coaches' eyes.)

Adding Shamburger and D'Angelo Allen, and maybe adding Shelton Mitchell as you said, would be sick.

It's honestly shocking that we held onto Namon. To lose both of the kid's lead recruiters - Phelps and Haith - and throw two totally new guys at him this late in Anderson and Fuller, and still keep a guy all the way out in Cali, is nearly unheard of in college hoops recruiting.

This is absolutely fantastic news. I am pumped for basketball season for the first time in years.

He seems to be eliminating most all of the concerns I had with his hiring.

Glad to be wrong. Hopefully it translates to the court.

MIZ_STL predicted all 4 of Gant, Wright, JWIII, and Clark would leave. Not only was MIZ_STL completely wrong, but Kim also brought in another class of 2014 recruit and a senior PG.

Great job Coach Anderson. Proving me wrong already!

If Mitchell gets on board this class becomes very very solid if not really good. Obviously you never know, but on paper it looks great and fills the needs with Gant and J 3 in the front court and a corps of guards.

Not sure what all the expectations of failure were about other than "we are Mizzou" failing at replacing Norm had become a legacy.

You're going to have to find a whole new reason to jump off the bridge

Be realistic please. A D2 coach has to recruit at a whole new level. There were also serious question marks about whether Fuller the main recruiter would stick around.

Thereafter there were question marks about whether any of our current commits would stick around.

Well I though the class would fall apart for sure. Im completely surprised and happy to eat crow.

Hope Anderson continues to surprise.

Having Fuller around has been HUGE.

Agreed. So far, so good. Let's hope it translates to the court.

Of the players you mention, I think Wes Clark may still have a risk factor to him. With both him and Shane Rector on the roster its a little weird that we are still recruiting more point guards like Shelton Mitchell and the new California kid in addition to already having signed Shamburger for one year. Remember, JWIII came out and made an "I am still a Mizzou Tiger" statement but we never heard Clark do the same. I think his main recruiters were Mark Phelps and Haith, as Phelps was the one with Michigan ties - is that right? Just reading between the lines a bit.

That said, nothing has happened yet, and Clark seems to like to play defense more than our starting guards did last year, so hopefully he and Kim Anderson hit it off enough that he stays.

With Rector, that kid has to be feeling some pressure now. The staff clearly doesn't yet even envision him as being able to be the primary backup at point guard and now even with him third string for next year they are still recruiting even more players who can play point. I kinda like what little we've seen of Rector's game but it sure seems like a longshot that he stays at Mizzou for four years.

I'll even put that on Anderson. Fuller has a pretty good track record and I imagine he could have gone any number of places for an assistant job and apparently was being offered a low level head coaching job.

Not to swing from one end of the spectrum to the other on Anderson over the past few weeks, but Anderson keeping Fuller on staff was a big show of support for Anderson and what he plans to do at Mizzou. I don't think I guy like Fuller stays on staff working for someone he's not bought in to.

I would think Rector and not Clarke would be the odd man out. If you think back a couple years with Pressey, Dixon, Denmon and Pressey 2 we had multiple ball handlers. Also Schaumburg seems like he might have a few hurdles to clear, but I don't really know how that works or what all that entails. Multiple ball handlers make for great teams.

I'll give major props where they are due and they are due to KA. Congrats KA!!!! Job well done. And welcome back Namon. I am completely shocked he stuck with Mizzou after still asking for his release after meeting KA. Job well done.

So we have one more scholarship left right? The one that hopefully goes to Mitchell right?
