It is 3 new faces. The rest are guys who couldn't beat out mediocre players on last year's squad. Assuming those to be significant improvements is baseless. For the squad to be better, the starters have to be better. Being below average with starters and an improved 2nd string isn't going to change anything.

Yeah, depth definitely doesn’t matter. You got it

lack of new faces? Norwood at DB(2nd string) Charleston at Safety (starting) Jernigan at DT (starting) Kristian Williams at DT (2nd string) Josh Landry at DT( 2nd string) Ian Matthews at DT (2nd string) Hopper at LB (starting) Coleman at DE (2nd string but will get a ton of snaps) we added 3 starters and 5 2nd strings.

Add to this Walker, Wilson and Wayne and half of our two deep is different than last year

I really do think this can be a top 40 defense

The offense has unknowns at QB, RB

This is more or less why I predicted
38
20

That's a three score win and not bad by any means considering everything

I'm looking forward to yalls season

S&P projects 41-19. That’s pretty much how I see the game although definitely could be a few less points on both sides.

We really can be good but the offense has to answer some legitimate questions in order to do so. It’s hard to project the season until I see us play a few games. By the end of week 4 we will have a feel for this team imo

How many wins do you predict for the Tigers? I see 7, possibly 8 outside of a bowl game

But Drinkwitz says the team is ready to go and is two deep. That is a lot better than last year. I believe it will be a much better team overall. If you need more time to wait and see that is fine with me.

#3: The last time our defense faced an air raid offense, we got absolutely man handled.

Are you saying Drinkwitz can't make adjustments? If he can't make changes and get it done, then Drinkwitz isn't going to win many games. A good HC that got beat badly by an air raid offense the first time should be able to make an adjustment. Leach and Heupel gave Drinkwitz nightmares. Last year was due to bad DC hire. Now the defense should be much better with a better DC. Don't forget the new DC was a LB coach for LSU and faced Leach and the rest of the SEC west teams. That might be why it is a very good thing to play Louisiana Tech to test their air raid offense, a team that has lesser talents than Tennessee and MSU.

Too hard to predict at this time. I don’t know what the offense is going to be like. Right now I’d say 6 wins, but if the offense is good maybe up to 9

Amen. It is so simple yet people want to add complexity to the situation.

What are we arguing about here fellas? Someone tell me who I should attack .

On an unrelated note, what’s everyone planning on eating and drinking for the game?

In college, the coaches are by far the most important part when it comes to success, especially at non-blue blood programs.

Our D literally couldn't get any worse. So it almost has to get better. I'd say it is 50/50 between a lot better (top 30 defense) and solidly better (top 60) and I think whatever it is depends almost 100% on the DC and not 3 new starters. If we had the same DC, we could have 11 new starters and it still wouldn't guarantee improvement if the coach has no idea what to do with it.

Only true for the teams competing for SEC and national championships. Everyone else regularly gets beat by less talented teams with better coaching staffs.
