Drink was at the Rockhurst and Nixa game last night.

Webb City 49
Grain Valley 35
I watched the Webb City and Grain Valley game last night. It was a evenly matched game, but Grain Valley played their OL/DL both ways and got tired. Webb City’s Sophomore QB/RB/WR ran for 255, passed for 78, and had around 50 yards receiving. Webb City vs Grain Valley game was the only 5A game last night.

Central beat Seneca last night 48-34. Seneca is really good this year they beat Lamar 28-14. They also beat Nevada and McDonald County teams that won there District in Class 4.

I wasn’t there, but a friend of mine was. He sent me a few text while he was at the game. He said Seneca played terrible in the 1st half. Seneca was down 3 TD’s I think it was 26-6 at the half. With 2 minutes left in the game Seneca was driving to tie or take the lead fumbled and then Central ran for a long TD.

He said Seneca was better, but couldn’t get over the bad 1st half.

Republic’s luck ran out. They have a good high school QB with a high football IQ. Their best player is James Rexroat a TE that is a really good blocker and a good receiver. Rexroat is going to Memphis next year. Republic offense runs on getting a lead a then slowing the game down. Run down the clock on every play before they snap. They went on a 60 yard drive against Webb City and it took almost 9 minutes off the clock. Webb got the ball back scored in less than a minute on 50+ yard TD pass.

They have a really small OL/DL for a Class 5 team. Sometimes they play with 9 in the box and for a good passing team like Cardinal Ritter they can take advantage of that all night.

My buddy said Ritter could have won big. He left before the game ended, but he thought the only reason it got close was because of a Pick 6 later in the game

Not that surprising. Their Oline and Dline were legit. Decent skill players and a very good QB.

Kearney just moved down too.

Lamar wins state again. Great game that went to OT.

Liberty North 38
CBC 7

CBC walked off the field with 3 minutes left. CBC had 6 unsportsmanlike penalties called. There was a no call on a LN hard hit that looks like a helmet to helmet out of bounds. I think it happened just after that.

I have never in my life seen a state championship end this way. With 3:15 left in the game CBC wanted to quit. Liberty north may win by forfeit presumably Really heated tensions on the field between players. North was leading 38-7 Image

Asked why the game was called, CBC coach Scott Pingel said via Gateway Sports Venue (@GSV_STL on X): “I kind of asked if we could stop it because of the nature of what we perceived as dangerous play going on there. I just wanted to make sure we got out of there without anything else happening.”

I wasn’t there, but some friends said that a player from Liberty North hit a Cadet two seconds after the whistle.

Then the CBC coach called game.

The video looks like it might be helmet to helmet as the QB was going out of bounds, but not after the whistle. It could have have been a personal foul, but the referees were probably trying to get the game over.

A few years ago in the Lamar and Lutheran championship game Lutheran was driving down the field with no TO’s. They went around 50 yards with less than a minute and scored with a few seconds left. They had 12 men on the field for 3 or 4 plays

The district and playoff games I watched this year the referees were pretty bad.

The 2 strangest calls I have ever seen in a high school game.

On a face mask that snapped a Webb City’s OG’s head back and knocked him out while standing holding was called on him. The DL fell forward when he went limp. Then they called a unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the OT when he was bent down and yelling at his teammate.

Instead of being 1st and goal it was 3rd and 33 from the 43.

Republic tried a onside kick and the ball went 5 to 7 yards and the Webb City player was blocked/pushed into the ball which is a penalty and it was called. The offense and defense were both on the field the whistle was blown and then the Republic coach ran onto the field. The referees talked with Republic’s coach and huddled up then overturned the call.

That kid hit him with his shoulder pads IN BOUNDS. Heads may of hit but it was not a leading with the head or anything. CBC acted like a bunch of bitches.

That’s what I kinda thought. When he leaned forward with his shoulder live it probably looked like a personal foul

In the game CBC had a player ejected and 6 unsportsmanlike penalties. CBC’s coach couldn’t control his players and the refs couldn’t either.

CBC should have went into the victory formation if they wanted the game over.

It was bad in the Hillsboro game. They huddled up a couple of times and just got the basics of the call wrong. They marked off penalty yards at the end of the play once for Hillsboro and it wasn’t a dead ball foul.

An oddity to me was defensice pass interference. It wasn’t an automatic first down. Kearney committed pass interference on fourth and goal. Because Hillsboro couldn’t get a first down by yardage (the penalty was half the distance), they got to only replay fourth down. I would tell my DBs to mug anyone near the ball in that situation.

MSHAA may not have used the same crews that worked together during the regular season and used new crews for the playoffs.

It looked good to me. If Liberty North can dominate like that why don't we have any commits from them.
