Missouri has made a chance to its offensive play-caller, and the Tigers have already seen a notable improvement in its production. Eli Drinkwitz gave up play-calling duties after he revealed about a month ago that he’d be open to it. Drinkwitz had called plays since he was hired at Missouri ahead of the 2020 season. Quarterbacks coach Bush Hamdan, a former offensive coordinator at Washington, was elevated to offensive play-caller for the Tigers and has handled offensive play-calling duties in the team’s last 2 games, sources told On3

Matt Zenitz pointed out several of the improvements for the Tigers: Since the change, Missouri scored 24 points in the first 36 minutes of a loss to Tennessee and 45 in a win (Saturday) over New Mexico State. QB Brady Cook has posted 645 total yards (468 passing, 177 rushing) with five TD p asses and zero INTs in these last 2 games. The Tigers have averaged at least 5.56 yards per play the last 2 games, the first time all season they’ve had that level of production in back-to-back games.

I didn't know this but did notice how the offense has improved lately. Good move Drink.

This is a smart move and I think closes the distance against Arkansas. I don't know if we'll win but it became a closer game for sure.

This is the right call.

Unless you are a certified offensive genius (Petrino, Spurrier) running an SEC program and being the OC is too much for a coach.

Nutt wasted several years of great Arkansas talent by insisting on calling the pays when he was HC. It's too much to tackle in the modern era unless you are just a savant at this stuff.

Take a step back, guide the play calls but don't make them, spend your time over seeing the entire operation instead of game planning for your next series.

Or be like Jimbo. Call the plays, screw it up, and still get paid.

"Drinkwitz was asked about QB coach Bush Hamdan reportedly calling offensive plays for Missouri. He said its “a little bit overblown,” noting a more collective effort in play calling from the staff."

Not even Reid calls plays. And he’s THE offensive savant the NFL steals ideas from.

McVay is crumbling and the Rams stink even before Kupp. And that’s the NFL where you don’t have to worry about coddling and pumping sunshine for needy recruits.

I hope there’s a legit nationwide search for an OC when the season closes who can also eval good QB talent.

I don't think Pinkel ever did either. I also think the offense looked better the last two games he's called.

Drinks like every head coach. He has a bit of an ego. But I give him credit for handing the reigns to Hamden. I can see his extension coming with a strong recommendation for an OC, but I feel the move this year is all his decision.

We could have kept that good recruiter probably if Drink had named him OC and given some playcalling duties during the offseason. Oh well.
