Micah Wilson taking snaps at WR in practice

Not sure I like this. On one hand he is a great athlete and might help us there, but on the other Drew is gone after this year and we also need a backup ready in case of injury.
Wilson can be special IMO. I'm guessing Dooley does not value running from the QB position which is very misguided in the college game IMO.

I’m guessing Scott is already the backup QB. Or Powell. And that a good spring at WR can get Wilson on the field earlier.

Why would you guess that?
Neither one of those guys are nearly as talented as Wilson. Wilson also has the advantage of already having SEC game reps. I really hope we don't frick this up.
I'm guessing it has more to do with being very thin at WR right now, but that won't be the case in fall camp.

Wilson took all of his snaps at QB on Tuesday. Hopefully, much ado about nothing

The staff can't wait until fall to start filling holes at WR. He knows the routes and adjustments to coverage...and he is strong enough to block his position. That isn't a given for any of the true fr.

I don't mind getting a playmaker on the field. However, you better have faith in Lowary or Powell by taking this chance. Wilson's running last year suggests he is a threat you want on the field.

Dooley was in the NFL.
They’re prepping him for some Philly Special action.

Lindsay Scott will factor into the QB situation as well. MU isn't deep enough at the skill position to keep a potential playmaker on the bench because the starting QB might get hurt. Hedging on true FR to fill the void isn't something I'd put my job on either.

I'm not sure Wilson would be any further along than any true FR. Physically he probably is... but route running, catching and blocking you'd figure he'd be well behind.

The upside to MW getting reps at WR are:
He has speed
He thinks like a QB so he understands the whole field
Obviously he wants to play NOW, so he's motivated

Spring practice and summer workouts with the skill group is plenty of time to prepare for fall camp.

The Patriots Julian Edelman was a college QB. He's turned out to be a pretty good WR.

Cole Beasley was another QB that moved to WR in college and is having considerable success. Granted these examples are outliers due to their professional success, but Wilson doesn't have to become a NFL starter to be considered a good college WR and help move the chains.

Didn't KU have a QB that moved to WR in 2007 as a Senior?

Are people already forgetting TJ Moe?
HS QB.
Savvy route runner with rock solid hands who made the clutch play quite often.

I'm not saying Wilson can't be a good WR. I'm saying I think he can be a very good QB and those are much harder to find.

Ryan Tannehill played WR at Texas A&M and had over 1000 yards receiving his first 2 years before taking over as the starting QB as a junior.

I only left TJ out because there was absolutely no way he was going to play quarterback in college.
