Have you guys seen pictures of this guy? He’s a freak! At 6’ 220lbs with legs like tree trunks this kid looks like seasoned man ready for SEC play. Will be interesting to see how much playing time he gets.

Luper could have a legit 3 man rotation this year. Throw in Pribula's legs and leading the SEC in rushing is a real possibility.

This is where I hate the portal. If he doesn't get enough playing time then he's gone. Even if he needs to develop blocking skills.

While I also hate this portal era, we gotta remember after 3 ish years mizzou has been portal winners not losers.

Ball security will determine how many carries Davis gets. Luper was trying to work Lacy in early in the year. Lacy put the rock on the ground vs Buffalo and lost another ball out of bounds vs UMass. He got 5 carries the rest of the season because of it and transfered. Expectations are high in that room and the best athlete doesn't always play because of it.

Based on what? We havent done any better than we did pre portal as far as on the field results.

Since being initiated in October of 2018, Missouri has certainly become a better program because of the portal. Most of the defense on two 10 win teams came from the portal. The RB room was rebuilt through the portal twice. The WR room was rebuilt through the portal. The depth on this years team has come from the portal. If they didn't have a questions at QB, they would be a top 15-20 team entering the season as they are just outside at #27.

better in that specific window but that is probably just as likely to improved coaching staff rather than NIL/portal. Nothing indicates Drink couldn't have done the same under the previous framework.

Now if we had a history of never winning more than 7 games in the old system and then the portal comes along and we are constantly winning 10+ games every year, that would be evidence of being better off with the portal. That just isn't the situation. We appear to have the same capabilities before and after.

It all comes down to jimmies and joes. The staff changed the culture and built the current depth at every level through the portal and that doesn't happen at 22 positions in one or two classes. They were six seasons removed from a 10 win season when Drink coached his first game and he inherited a bottom 1/4 of the league roster built on recruiting classes ranked in the 40s. You'd have to go back to 2013 to find a team as deep at every position sans QB. That was Pinkel's 13th season. Doing that in 6 years given where the roster started doesn't happen without the portal.

But there is no evidence it couldn't have. It has happened at Missouri before.

Correct, maybe it could have. The point is we used the portal to speed that process up. We've gained more than we've lost via portal as well.

No other coach in program history won 10 games in years 4 and 5. Pinkel didn't do it until year 7.

We have won 10 games before, multiple times. It isn't some groundbreaking achievement. If the portal is really a benefit for us, that means we should win a conference title as that is the next level. If not, the portal hasn't benefitted us at all compared to the previous period.

When Drinkwitz was hired he was an unknown. Players didn't know much about him. Coaches didn't know much about him. Drinkwitz has made some mistakes early on and is still learning and just two years ago finally let go of control of the offense. He is now just starting to figure out how to win games and the battle for recruiting key players that has been very hard to get in the past.

I think we are talking about Missouri and how the portal hasn't benefited the program anymore than the before the portal.

I don't see any critique of drink in this thread. He has done fine.

It sounds like we're still looking for a LT.
