Simmons is going to have to deliver the goods to stay there.

Vegas has Simmons around +10000 in the Heisman odds, around 30th or so among QBs listed. That says decently average to me.
That may be enough. Better than Cook, probably better than anything we've seen since Lock. I can only hope.

One of the few things I enjoy about portal era, start of each season is like Christmas. Never know what you are going to get. Hope it’s not a socks and underwear Christmas.

Me too. In terms of arm talent Riley hasn't had anyone that can throw like Simmons.

Seeing the field can be coached and by all accounts, Simmons isnt lacking for intelligence.

Have we fixed the busts in the secondary this year? That is probably the thing I want to see most with this year's team.

I always thought being ranked was a good thing for a college football team.

The Mizzou fan always expects the worst. Thus we are never disappointed and occasionally pleasantly surprised.

It is and it isn't. In my lifetime as a Mizzou fan, Mizzou plays much better when they are not ranked vs ranked. The teams have always tended to think a bit too highly of themselves after getting ranked. There are some exceptions but by and large it is a very strong trend over the last 30 years. Our record as a ranked team is not good.

in 2025 Mizzou was 4-4 as a ranked team, losing to four, top 10 teams.
in 2024 Mizzou was ranked all season and was 10-3 (three road losses)
In 2023 Mizzou was 7-2 as a ranked team, losing to the Heisman winner in his breakout game and on the road to #2
So if 21-9 has brought the averages down, then the past sounds like it was pretty good.

Drink's first season was 2020. That would be great if he has brought averages up.

The 21-9 run this decade is very similar to Pinkel's two runs from 2007-11 (27-11) and 2013-15 (16-6)

agreed two slight differences: 1) Pinkel made 2 championship games. 2) Drink had (maybe still has?) a really interesting undefeated stretch vs unranked teams.
