Not just because BallZak just can’t hit on 15+ yards down the field, but the fact that we had to trot a clearly gimped QB out there on 4th and 13, says a lot. The backups aren’t ready for whatever reason.

We have cupcakes left. Drink better use the Pinkel development strategy and start giving these guys a drive here and there.

I was listening on the radio and the Mizzou announcers let a little frustration at Bazelak’s inability to connect on the deep ball creep out.

He apparently missed Cooper late. They said good coverage but that Cooper had a step.

Yeah that was a bad miss. He wasn't WIDE open but he was definitely open to the endzone with a good throw.

If he leads Cooper so he can run under it, it’s a TD.

CB is like 2-8 on 15+ yard passes. Maybe worse than that. Our offense is handcuffed like UGA with Fromm if you can’t stretch the D out. We need more than a game manager to challenge the better SEC teams.

Coverage was ok but didn’t come close to giving Cooper a chance to make a play. Put no air under his throw

It's amazing when you look at Bazelak's stats at the end of the game and realize how many plays were left out there.

As you and I have discussed Athos, I always loved Pinkel's approach of grooming the heir apparent at QB with a series a game or half, especialy when the back-up brings a different skill set to the table (i.e. Mauk vs. Franklin, then Lock vs. Mauk). Unfortunately based on last night it looks like Brady Cook would get the call over Macon which tells me Macon must not be ready and will take a redshirt this year.

I was watching the post-game interviews this morning on YouTube and Gabe apparently has a post game call-in show and he just dropped this nugget: over the last four years Kentucky has recruited 22 four-stars and a 5* - not including their transfer QB and WR. Mizzou has recruited 9 fours, 4 of whom are freshman recruits of Drink's. We are severely undermanned, particularly in both trenches and at LB.

When you look at how Stoops did it the impressive part is how he aggressivey recruited his northern flank (Ohio, Michigan, etc) to attract B1G kids to play in the SEC. And from the early returns Drink is finally taking Mizzou in that direction with the two OL recruits from Nebraska and Chicago. Hopefully they have SEC talent.

The much larger issue is how they attract and develop quality defensive line talent. Our current DL corps looks too small, too weak, and unable to hold the edge at defensive end. And other than trying to sign Luther Burden they need to expend every effort to find 4*+ DL talent. Georgia and Arkansas are going to cave our skulls in too.

And it goes without saying DL coach Jethro Franklin is under the microscope as well. If he's not a good technician at instilling fundamentals he's going to be gone sooner than later. Your players can't be embarrassed and crushed week after week and keep your job. It's sad how quickly and thoroughly Odom dismantled what was traditionally a strength of the team and until it's fixed we're fricked.

I agree; CB didn’t make 1 tackle on D. Defense is why we lost, nothing else.

Macon isn’t even the backup. Cook is.

CB played a really good game I thought.

The defense can’t stop the run. THAT is our problem

We leave a lot of points on the field every game right now. Partly because we are a young team, and partly because our OC likes to get cutesy in the red zone. My big worry about playing Mizzou this year is that we run up and down the field on y'all, then settle for FGs, and lose a close one.

It was a close loss to what looks to be a really solid Kentucky team. Trust me, I've seen worse losses than that one.

It wasn’t as close as the score makes it look. We we’re lucky to keep it to one TD.

I actually have an odd feeling that Macon may never see the field as a starter. Cook is the #2 right now and I feel Horn may leap him in depth chart once he gets to campus. Excited for the Horn era of football!

I just hope we keep recruits at this point. Recruiting has always been a struggle, and looking like this won’t help

Not worried about that. Recruits didn’t expect us to win 9 games during a rebuild. Can you imagine the score if Odom was coaching this team? We would have lost by like 30 lol.

Eh. While yea, we got lucky with the fumble, that shite can happen in games and we capitalized off of it.

We were RARELY if ever getting turnovers during the ODumb era. Now, whether skill or luck, we’re getting them. I think coaching is playing a part in that.

We still made UK look shitty on O in the second half despite having an utterly mediocre D and despite getting run over.

According to Dave Matter, our D is dead last in the P5 in yards allowed and rushing yards allowed.

We really, really need some large body 3 star DL. And I don't care what we have to promise, at least 2 P5 transfer portal LBs.

Gracial is being courted by Bama big-time. He's visited there recently and is suppose to go back. Saban wants dude BAD.
