Luther Burden posts cryptic message, fuels transfer speculation

Let the Luther Burden transfer speculation run wild — the old fashioned Instagram scrub is adding some fuel to the fire.

quote:

On Monday, the star Missouri wide receiver deleted all the pictures he had posted to the social media website, and posted a cryptic message on his story that simply read, “Patiently waiting.”

He will probably play the rest of this year because of the NIL money

It’s amazing what passes as “journalism” these days.

His dad said he was gone unless he gets all the targets.

Take it up with the person who reported it. Frank C in STL who spoke with his dad.

I’m hearing NASCAR talk.

I’ll just believe you, but there is no way anybody rational said that. If Frank is reporting that then he isn’t relaying the info correctly

Jesus,

I know you're still all in with Drink, but it might be time to evaluate what's going on here.

It would appear Drink is about to lose his first and only 5-star recruit after 4 games into the season. Something is obviously amiss and everyone in the world can see it.

The dude is in over his head. I will be the first to admit he can recruit his arse off. I just don't think he can coach.

Have no idea if true or not. However, IF Burden transfers out, then you are going to witness a classic house of cards collapse, and Drink will not survive THIS season.

I don’t think this is the end of the world, honestly. Worst case scenario, he leaves.

He’s not performing at a level to demand that the world stop its rotation upon his command. I think Drink should be getting him the ball more. I also think he should catch the ball when it’s thrown to him.

It does not appear that way.

Gabe even said he checked in on it and he’s not transferring.

People are going off his instagram. A receiver from LSU did the exact same thing after week 1. Guess who he still plays for?

I 100% agree that it's not the end of the world. I just don't want him to leave and take a ton of others with him. It'll feel like the one area where Drink was extremely strong (recruiting) ... will also be a failure.

If Drink was Pinkel, I would not be sweating it at all. HCGP had a system in place and knew he could develop 2 and 3 stars to play at an elevated level.

I don't think Drink has developed that system as of yet.

Fans do fanatical things and jump to conclusions. I hope both LB3 and his family keep the faith. I just want to see our program take steps forward, not backwards.

I think Drinkwitz is stuck with the group he has to work with right now. Next year is the target with an improved defense it should be much better next year. Plus, some are still waiting for the other quarterback to be ready to play either later this year or next year. It proved that this year looks to be a washup. Next year should be when there will be players stepping up and the system in general will be much improved. I have a feeling it will be next year like I said way back and need to get all the players to gel and be in placed before things are ready. I have no real clue what it will be like next year since Drinkwitz hasn't gotten the OL and DL set. I am disappointed that this year isn't looking to be very good. No need to panic since maybe everyone knew it was a year away to be set up with the right quarterback. Plus, any other transfer coming in for next year should help. There doesn't seem to be any panic with players and/or coaches. Maybe all knew it will be next year to finalize the complete team to compete. Just might be what it is as of right now.
My guess is that Drinkwitz is still building the roster and the football program.

We’re going to have to strike gold in the portal a bunch of times for the defense to be better. We’re losing all of our best players on defense.

We maybe lose Hopper and KAD. Maybe Carlies. All those guys have one more year left though.

We lose some guys on the DL but we have good depth there.

We’ve got the #21 defense in the country right now. The defense is more than fine. We need to improve the offense. This is how you win college football games anyway. You have to be able to score
