Ramey
Watson
MPJ
Jontay
Tilmon

If this was next years lineup where would this rank all time?

That is talented but also factor in freshman guards.

1989, 1982, 2008, and 1994 all look better to me

True but you'd have Geist there with some experience(and would probably start).

Also Kentucky proves every year being a Freshman means very little at the end of the day.

Great lineup, not great enough for next season. way too young.

Don't buy the youth thing. Kentucky/Duke/UNC win year in and year out with heavy minutes contributed by Freshman.

The difference between a 5* one and done freshman and a 70th ranked 4* freshman is pretty significant usually.

no connection. The talent they get are from kids who play in the big showcases in hs, a lot like the porter brothers. I think Ramey will be terrific in college, not sure if it will be right off the bat, and same with Watson. Kids who play in little completion in hs typically take a while to get going which I very much worry about with Watson.

When projecting a hat Watson and Ramey can do as freshmen it’s better to look at what they did in AAU competition. AAU has better competition.

Exactly. A 5* McDonald’s All American like MPJ or Kevin Knox are they type of guys who could play in the NBA tomorrow. Courtney Ramey and Tilmon are good players, but they aren’t even close to NBA ready.

We could do that. But even then, the point stands. both played on a lesser AAU team and division - team Ramey. They arent on the level as the beagles/mokan.

Team Ramey played on the top level of the Adidas circuit. It’s not quite EYBL level, but it’s much better competition than what they mostly faced in high school.
There are a few AAU game videos on YouTube if you want to see what they can do when they face competition that can at least challenge them.

Freshman 4* guards. Sophmore front court. Not much depth. MPJ needs playing time to learn the college game. Tillmon gonna foul. Not the most athletic team.

Add some really good recruits next year and you could have something in year two, but the Porters will certainly be gone by then. Ideally you could build off this if you keep getting good classes and more experience for both the players and the staff

You guys are seriously underestimating Ramey. I've seen him play live a couple times and he would be instant impact on our roster. He's a lead guard who can first and foremost break down a defense. Something we were completely missing this year and it hurt us a lot.

He would make a huge impact on our team especially. Pinson can also do these things. Our biggest issue is we just weren't that athletic. This class addresses that with Pinson, Santos and Watson. Ramey if we can add him is not an elite athlete, but he's better than average and a big upgrade for us.

We can be really good next year IF Jontay comes back and this class finishes as I expect.

The thing that should help Ramey as a freshman is that he shouldn’t have to carry the team.
He will be able to come in and play as a very valuable role player. That’s assuming Jontay is back and we land a plug and play grad transfer on the wing.

If I'm dreaming

Ramey/Pinson/Geist (moving Geist to the 3rd option makes us better instantly)

Watson/Pickett/CVL/Suggs (again moving CVL to 3rd instead of starting = improvement and Suggs > Rau)

MPJ/Santos - No backup necessary but obviously Santos or CVL can spell him. Yes, Santos will get his minutes at the 2 or 4 as well.

Jontay/Puryear - Jontay will be light years better after a year's experience

Tilmon/Nikko - Tilmon too will be vastly better. Won't have as much foul trouble now that the game slows down for him.

If MPJ is back I would say that Santos will get more minutes at the 2 than any of Watson/Pickett/CVL/Suggs.

The timeline for the CVL recovery is 9-10 months so you can remove him from the rotation.

I think ideally, he doesn't play more minutes AT THE TWO than one of Watson or Pickett. He may play more minutes than either one over all because of playing the 3 or 4.

Yeah, CVL gone. Suggs probably not much of a factor unless we run into depth issues again.
