Is this the end of Harpos?

People have been dropping off that that balcony for decades man. That doesn't make it right, it's just you'd think they would have at least raised the barrier.

Last time I was there it was not a wall, it is a railing. This guy (according to witnesses) did not go over intentionally, he lost his balance and fell backwards while sitting on the rail (not sure why you would sit on a railing like that, but you know...drinking.) I'm sure any lawyer will be quick to point out that Harpo's should have had security keeping people off the rail. And - if as you say people have been going over the rail for years and Harpos hasn't taken measures to prevent that - I'm sure a lawyer would be all over that too.

By all accounts and according to the city the railing is to code and proper height. My experience is Harpo's has always been pretty diligent about counting people and if so probably not an over capacity/crowding issue. And, critically, in this case the young man was of legal age so not an underage situation. All of that certainly helps in defense of any litigation - but the way this country is with lawsuits not sure if that matters given his injuries.

I certainly hope the young man recovers, and I hope Harpo's is there for generations to come.

Maybe we should start a Harpos GFM in anticipation of a lawsuit.....oh wait, I started donating to that in the mid 90s.
