Well, just when we thought the EE saga was closed, Dave Matter writes this article in the Columbia Tribune........

WOW!

Freakin unbelievable. Now there seems to be a twitter war of words going on between Stacy Elliott on Dave and Gabe of PM.

I'll let you read the article and decide. But for me, I've moved on til this. If you don't want exposed about something you say, don't say it. In this day and age of media, expect Dave to take this all lying down? I wish the Elliotts would just move on, say to Ohio, and leave Mizzou to people who care for Mizzou, true Mizzou fans.

You can get a good rundown of whats going on if you can follow all the twitter messages.

Stacy feels his comments were taken out of context. I think it's his wife, (Dee?) seems to be really pissed about the article.

What's at issue is Stacy making a comment that it would have helped Mizzous recruitment of EE if the media would have covered EE's unofficial visits.

Not a fair comment if your in the media. It's hard to report on someone if you have no idea they are comming.

Elliott's are just attention whores. Why the frick do they feel the need to even discuss Mizzou anymore? Just like after he originally committed, Missouri and Mizzou fans moved on and forgot about him. So he dicked his alma mater around and got all the media attention he so sorely missed and re-committed(I guess) to OSU and Missouri and Mizzou fans again moved on and forgot all about him. Well can't have that. Let me bring them back into the fray again so I can get even more media attention. They need to shut the frick up and move out of Missouri and for God's sake, stop talking about how you're representing St. Louis. No you're not. St. Louis doesn't give a shite about you either. We've all moved on and it's time for you to move on too. Truly a sick family and embarrassed to say they're alumni.

If I sounded a bit pissed, here's a part of the reason why. Remember, this is coming from a Mizzou alum. Not just an alum, but someone who was part of the athletics at Mizzou along with her husband.

Miz Dee ?@itz_mizdee

@AriWassermanBSB @dave_matter i will be sure to share his bogus blog with parents i know who's children are being recruited by MU.

Thats the thing. What does Mizzou have to do with any of this?

Answer, nothing.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the Elliots will not be renewing their season tickets next year.

Mr Stacy Elliott...I'm glad that our local sports writers don't have to write a special section every time EE touches the ball or takes a dump. Hell, you don't hear DGB's parents complaining about ANYTHING!...and he's the best recruit to come out of Missouri in years...possibly ever. Thanks for choosing Ohio State, we don't need ego's that big around the program.

Don't think they'll be recognized at half time of any games?

I mean Dontre Wilson is going to get EE's touches anyways. Solid chance you dont hear much from him again.

I'll be tuning in to Cusamano on the radio to see if he has anything to say about it. Frankly, he's part of that local media and really, the Elliott's kind of played him to get their mugs on TV if you ask me.

What's funny is, when the media whores were creating their fake buzz about an announcement, the OSU boards, while confident he would stay committed, were also talking about the fact that he's like 4th or 5th in line and that was before Dontre Wilson committed. I don't wish ill on him but I will find it amusing if he barely finds the field.

What happened to Wingo when he thought he was too good for us? All I am going to say.

What's crazy is, the bitch won't drop it. She's still tweeting shite with some Ohio numb nuts. It's beyond just straightening out a misunderstanding. She's gone out of her way to mother frick Mizzou, Dave, Gabe and anyone else she can grasp onto associated with Mizzou.

There is a subset of STL who thinks they're too big and too good for Mizzou. And it's not a small subset. Odd that you'd find alumni of Mizzou in that group. But that appears where the Elliotts are.

Frick em. May the ghost of Ronnie Wingo haunt his career.

Yeah, EE and his family are pretty much a joke..

But... I will say that the Post Dispatch sucks pretty big balls at covering Mizzou. The St. Louis area does not treat Mizzou the way it should.

OK, I'm going to post a slightly different point of view here that may be unpopular. That's OK, I haven't stirred anything up in a while. I read the comments. And I don't think he didn't say anything that was not true. The media coverage at Ohio State likely IS greater than at Missouri, especially as it relates to recruitment.

As I've said before, I have a good friend who played football at Alabama and is still pretty dialed into the program there. If a high-profile recruit visits their campus, officially or unofficially, the media there is all over it. It might not be a situation where they can talk to the recruit, but they know when he gets to campus, what he does there, and when he leaves. And it's covered. That's the level of interest in the program and the hype around recruiting there. Many SEC schools are the same.

In Missouri, the media just doesn't cover it recruiting the same way. If you notice, in his article Matter references how media can't formally cover many recruiting visits. OK, I accept that. But it can still be covered more informally - they just don't view it as important enough, and right now there is not enough demand for recruiting information to make that coverage a priority. The media covers what they think people are interested in - and the general media apparently doesn't believe it's a hot topic for enough Missouri fans to make it worth their while to chase down the stories.

This season? I got most of my recruiting info from URHatinIt because I don't pay for PM. Thank you, again! For most other SEC schools, there is a lot more info out there, in a lot more places.

Now, do I think the Elliotts sound like attention seekers? Yes, his quotes imply that. We don't like prima-donas at Mizzou, and I don't want to see that change, so if that's high on the priority list? He made the right choice for him. At least until he gets there and they see if he makes the depth chart. I don't want to see a highlight-chaser come to Mizzou.

But do I think Stacey Elliott has a point? Yeah, I do - as it relates to recruitment. It's up to fans to demand the info about recruitment activities if we want that to change.

Ahh, I think it's a bigger group. I think St. Louis in general is afraid to consider themselves Missourians. For a lot of people there is very little (more like no) pride at all to be a Missourian if you're from St. Louis, and that's a shame.

Very little state pride if you're from StL, and without state pride it's hard to be a big fan of the school that represents your state.

Agreed on the post. I will say radio has been doing a bit better job. Still, when there's a weekly show devoted to golf and a weekly show devoted to golf, there is no reason not to have a show devoted to MU and the SEC instead of segments.
