Midweek losses to crap teams are part of it. A team like UALR probably throws their ace against SEC competition. It happens.

The pitcher that lost for Mizzou went to Webb City High School, the town I live in. He was a good football player, surprised he don't play both sports for Mizzou.

Webb is a freaking factory. Mostly due to excellent coaching, but that dang school district has dominated SW Missouri. Unfortunately, Mizzou never gets any of their kids. Some of the best baseball guys head to Missouri State, and football guys never really get looked at.

Most teams stopped doing that in the early 2000s.

Can you blame them though? Missouri State has better attendance, better baseball stadium/facilites, and they are closer to home.

Yeah most go FCS or D2. They have one player that's going to Minnesota. I can remember Wistrom going to NU and I think his brother went to K-State. Hell Arkansas don't even recruit them. Guess not enough "athletes" or "speedy" players if you know what I mean.

Arky has one player from Webb. I think Kohl was a walk on, but it does seems that the recruiting in the 4 states area from the major 5 confrences is weak. With the level of talent that the area produces Mizzou should be a bigger recruiter in the area. Hardin should have been recruited by Mizzou for sure.

Name: MizzouBS

Limited number of posts.

Makes comment with specific knowledge of Arkansas baseball roster, which of course can be found online, but this is clearly on off-the-cuff comment, so the knowledge was already known.

Fraud alert.

No. I live in Webb City. My wife is college professor here. I don't comment because I usually don't have anything to add. I do enjoy reading other Tiger fans opinions. What I have noticed is this part of the state is not recruited like other area's in the state even though the produce the talent. Webb City's best player was not offered by Mizzou and is heading to Minnesota. He recently won state in the 100 with a time of 10.02. I believe it is missing out on in-state talent. 4 players in the area signed with D1 schools and none were offered by Mizzou.

Missouri State's pretty good at baseball. TJ is an idiot for throwing Miles. But that's just my opinion. You have a high school 2nd round draft pick and 14th round draft pick sitting on your bench but you throw a senior who is only a senior because he wasn't good enough to get drafted as a junior.

That loss sucked. The stadium was about 35-40% Missouri State fans. We should've had them in the bag with that lead, but I guess you're right Miles was not the right call.

Well just three days ago we were down 3-0 to Alabama and came back to win. It happens. We looked a lot more interested last night than we did against Air Force, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, or Arkansas-Little Rock. That MSU team is pretty good too.

I don't really get the criticism of John Miles. He isn't starting on the weekend over McClain, Houck, and Fairbanks. He is starting over a bunch of kids that haven't shown that they can consistently throw strikes. Unless you are going to start Schwaab, I think John is the best midweek option.

I kind of hit on it in the other thread. More potential upside with the youngsters. Plus, you're grooming them for next year. I guess I wouldn't have as much of a problem with Miles if TJ would just have a quicker hook with him. Once he's gotten through the lineup once, he ain't fooling anyone anymore.

De Oca, Rash and Dabney all have lower ERA's than Miles, despite their walks. I believe Rash and De Oca both have lower WP/Inning and lower HBP/Inning than Miles. The walks are an issue but they shown the ability in most occasions to pitch out of trouble. Let them work through it and maybe you'll have somebody for next year. And lord forbid they actually figure it out while out there on the mound and now you've got an unbelievable rotation because their upsides are night and day different.
