The SEC Rant has from the outset basically been the "Mizzou fans who like to bitch about Tigerboard" haven since we got here. I love you guys, but I'm on PowerMizzou too and its also a more modern board but posters there don't seem to take an opportunity every five minutes to say how much you fricking hate Tigerboard like most everyone here does. Being honest guys. It's kinda like the ku fans who say they don't care about us and then bitch about all things Mizzou at every chance. If you don't like Tigerboard, great, you've found other options, be happy about it and move on.
Me personally I like all the places where Mizzou fans hang out because I like talking to Mizzou fans. Crazy concept I know. Oh and Kim English posts on both Tigerboard and PowerMizzou now so that's fun.
And for the record, my good friend from high school in Columbia MO, Dave Reid, is who first started Tigerboard back in the mid-90s. It was his baby and he then sold it to Nick, who most people nowadays seem to mistakenly assume was its creator. Nick had nothing to do with it. I probably get a little defensive because Dave is one of the nicest and funniest friends you could have, great guy. He made a board in the mid 1990s that at the time of its inception was immediately one of the best sports boards out there. The fact it was so successful that there was tons of demand for it and it created a loyalist following that never wanted the format to be drastically changed is not his fault.

I feel bad for Nick. He puts together a good site, but I can't figure out why he's so hung up on keeping that format. There's just nothing user friendly about it. Even the search function sucks.

Easy there. Yes I've always known Dave created it and sold it to Nick at some point...most of the mainstays on TB know that. I'm in no way trying to dog on tigerboard, I've been a member for a long time there and posted thousands of times for many years. All I'm saying is that it's survival of the fittest for Internet traffic and users, and I think at this point it's fair to say the rant is more "fit" than TB.

Because every single time you load any page, it's 5 ad views for him/an additional chance for a mistake click through. If he included 20 posts per page like this place, his income would likely drop significantly. It's actually a brilliant setup for maximizing ad revenue.
Having everyone over there convinced it's the best system is the real accomplishment.

It's a fair enough point, but one that the small band of folks we have here has made about 100 times already is all I'm saying. If you want to petition Nick (and Dave does still have input on the format as well) then y'all can rally the troops and do so. The site is what it is and the Tigerboard bashing on other boards gets old to me. That's all.

Not like that at all dude. I get more info from that board than anywhere else. It's a first stop everyday for me. Just not much fun to post there.

Go to the help board on TB. There's a thread asking about the MOB votes. Nick posted a link for an explanation on the votes.
Click on it.
It took me to what looked like the future TB.

The Shack is awesome. I love The Shack.
Football board goes through phases, and it's currently in the "we know everything about everything, so everyone else shut up while I make two line posts" phase. It will come back.
I just don't like that the good posts tend to get buried so quickly, and people love the PH people when they post about something that happened to be discussed 6 hours ago and fe to the second page.
That is all.

I was wondering about that. It looks totally different. I actually thought it was old, but I remember the old style and it didn't look like that.

That's actually the old TB.

Well, then I was right all along. To me TB is a lot like being a Missouri fan. Most people don't get it, and they never will. It's kitschy, much like the parochial cities of Missouri.

Are there changes coming to TB? I know there had been talk. I never really saw anything from Nick.

I agree with that. And its the major free forum for Mizzou Fans, kind of like Mizzou the only BCS school in the state.

I think its more the format then anything else. Many of the little gripes would be lessened if there were a way for users to participate in the type of threads they want. Its about the flavor of the hour threads and it becomes a competition to see who can "one up" the last guy. Which is funny at times but can grow a little old without a some balance honestly.
Its fun, I enjoy it for what it is but I suspect many of the people who pop into other forums are looking for something different at times.
I dont think its a zero sum issue and I sure dont think that the SEC rant is going to replace Tigerboard.
We could have all went without the kU comparisons though... that shite was a little weak man.

Hammer meet nail. Exactly right. For me personally, I don't even mind the cliffhanging weird post arrangement. The only thing I've ever wanted nick to do is make threads bump to the top by activity. As the poster above said, too many good posts get buried because they aren't brought to the top by activity, which I think is dumb. Oh well...one can hope

and in fairness to Tigerboard, there is nothing more fun then trying to get the killshot with a M*B vote.

I have to agree - that is pretty fun.
There are some that don't have respect for ladies over there though....

Tigerboard users (vast majority, that is) don't want any changes to the format.
I know the clicking back and forth gets old, but the use of nm (no message) speeds up the process for one-line comments.
Too bad that interesting topics may get buried in all the posts.
There are some very knowledgable posters that participate on TB. I am quick to skip over garbage on either board.
Bottom line for me, is that I find reasons to like both SecRant and TigerBoard.
