Why not Mike Matheny? He has managed everywhere else in Missouri.

They better be prepared to pay at least a million a year, build a new ballpark, and double (at least) their annual investment in baseball, or this is all just a waste of time.

None of that will happen. We all know this.

Cards and Royals.

I think the best investment in baseball would be a "family day/night" investment where you give free tickets to kids, enough to bring their families, with a free hot dog and drink. Better investment of $300k a year or so to build an actual fanbase. Get families to want to come from a healthy radius around Columbia, and organize activities for the families centered around the facilities of the university.

I would put every nickel and dime into a new stadium first. Sitting in those cold metal bleachers with the freezing wind whipping in is just brutal. Even free all-inclusive tickets, food, etc. is a hard sell when it's 40 and windy on top of that dang hill.

That is the thing with baseball in CoMo the only crowds they get will need to be from the local community.

Engaging the schools for family games, all you can drink drink tuesday nights for the frats, etc.

Fair enough. But that alone won't get a fanbase. Bring in the families and have them tour facilities and learn about the ag or science programs, etc. with staff and grad students discussing their departments. Build fans and future students.

Weird. Who do you hire? We’re not going to suddenly compete.

This was a good time to hire a new coach based on what the team did this year in the tough SEC. The AD must've found someone already or else she would be throwing money away for
someone that might not improve the team at all. I think she has an idea who would be a good fit to replace Bieser. Better do it when the team is still has a chance to do well next year. Some coaches will take the job based on what the team did so far this year and how the rest of the SEC did that made Mizzou baseball a more desirable job for a coach.

Rumor is Rob Childress is the target. Id be ecstatic with that but I got a feeling to have him, he will demand we commit money to the program first, which i doubt will happen unfortunately. They need to get Scherzer, Kinsler and other pros to go in together and donate the money for a new high-end practice facility. If we can upgrade the players facilities, we should be able to recruit better, which equals better performance which finishes with more engaged fan base.

much better hires out there

maryland coach is getting less than bieser a year, a person mentioned. maryland is far behind in facilities.

campbell coach is doing a lot of good things there, and every win gets the kids camel points and a case of camel lights

Rob is a proven winner. Our other options are either the Maryland coach, or a G5 coach like Kerrick Jackson from Memphis or a P5 assistant like Matt Hobbs the Arkansas PC. Kerrick is an interesting one, former assistant coach, and his pitching coach right now is good ole Tim Jamieson. He has a lot of experience in the Juco ranks in the Midwest and he is from STL. Could benefit in recruiting considering STL is a hot bed for baseball talent.

I doubt she looks there, his resume isnt very good and if you are going to fire bieser, you need to bring someone in who is gonna make a splash or at least look good on paper. She also hired Blair Debord as an assistant AD whos main background is baseball. Was a catcher at Kstate, spearheaded the team who hired Vitello at Tennessee and also spear headed the hiring of Kerrick Jackson at Memphis. He also played for the Maryland coach at KState.
