We played well tonight if you watched the game.

Jesus man, that's got to be a stretch. I mean we beat a team that is 2nd to last in the Summit, whatever the hell that is. They were 4-4 coming in, though they did beat UMKC so there is that. I'm not saying that the team didn't look better than last year or whatever spin, but how far has Mizzou basketball sunk when a 7 point win can ever be described as playing well.

Groundhog day. I heard that last year too. Having said that, I have hope that it actually happens this year.

Just got home. WTH is happening? 7 point game? Against Omaha?

Mizzou offense still struggling against the zone. Our bigs still can't block out on consistent basis. Team speed at point guard is not what it used to be. Need faster point guards that can penetrate zone defenses. Players won't play above the rim on fast breaks. Body control not very good (foot work). KA's offense is flat as hell at times.

There's a lot about this team to like.....1st no suspensions since pre-game 1......great energy.....hustle.......they are actually learning how to play.......at least they're trying to play defense & they succeed a lot.....still a boatload of freshmen mistakes but they're fun to watch.......trending up.

We played pretty bad....lots and lots of dumb turnovers and forcing shots. We also weren't very good from the charity stripe.

18 turnovers. That is pretty much the story out of this one.

Puryear and Gant played pretty well. Phillips did too, except his fouling habit, fouled him out with like 4 minutes to go.

Namon got on the boards, but was Meh other than that.

Woodsburg (Woods and Rosburg) wasn't awful, considering we didn't run much offense through the post.

But if we can win playing badly, I'll take it.

Phillips could run to Rollins and back before Shamberger could get the ball up the court. But Shamberger was the slowest point guard in D1 last year.

We've sunk incredibly far which should be no revelation for any poster on this board, but if you look at this team you do see some positives and some realistic hope for improvement. The two best players on the team are guys that just got here and both appear to have a real future. You also see things to like with both Walton and Van Leer. So it appears that KA's first real class was a succesful one. Gant is coming on. Need Clark to do the same.

After the shite show in KC it appears they have been able to regroup and start progressing again. There will be more tough times this year, but I do see where this team could be successful in the coming years.

At least we are starting 5-0 at home which is more of a positive than we had last year. If KA can get us a decent home record and have us around .500 I think he stays another year. Haith left the program in disarray. I'll take small victories for now.

We're still awful. Until we beat a P5 team I can't agree that we're any better than last year. Still too small to compete against top 100 teams. Next 3 games are against P5 opponents, that should tell us a lot. If we go 0-3 then the season is basically over as I can't imagine us getting enough conference wins to make .500.

UNF hits 3's like it's nobody's business. At least they did against LSU. If you have watch ESPN and want to see just a flat out fun game, I recommend watching it. The final was 119-108, no overtime. LSU scored like 71 points in the second half.

But not the whole story. 13 were in the first half. They locked down in the second half.

This was not a pretty win, but this game (and the NIU game) showed an emerging, more confident Jakeenan Gant. If he can play the way we all expect, it adds a very dynamic dimension on both sides of the court.

Kevin Puryear will be an absolute monster. While we don't have a prototypical big man, he is probably our best threat inside. He can power his way to the rim and create shots with his body.

Also, I like how Anderson has adjusted the offensive strategy, based on the new foul-calling mandate. This is a great article about it:

Last year, there were minor glimpses early on and then, well, you know.

This year, I feel like this team really will be vastly improved by the end of the season. I don't know what that means in terms of W-L, but I think they'll pass the eye test.

Or it all unravels like every other hope I've ever had for Mizzou.

That's how SLU was able to shut them down. HEAVY guard play. I think they only shot like 12 3's against SLU

Nothing quite like the thrill of seeing basketball for ten seconds before yet another foul is called. Baseball has better pace then college basketball right now.

I wasn't too pleased with Kim's coaching in this game. One of the things that frustrated me most, was the damn press breaker. Omaha was forcing the ball handler away from the middle and throwing a trap on them immediately after inbounding. After the 2nd consecutive trap, you would think someone would see a damn trend. Nope. The other guards were still leaving the pg on an island with no options. Luckily, it didn't lead to too many turnovers, but that's because it's fricking Omaha we were playing. Kim, on a press, get a guy in the middle of the floor if there is a trap. Idk if it's the coaching or if some of the players are really that stupid. (Clark, Isabel, Wright)

I think once teams adjust to the rules, the long-term effect will be a more fluid game. In the mean time, tweet-tweet.

I was looking a little further back, like when this program was a threat to actually win big games. Pressey comes to mind.

Some of it may be KA's style of offense too. They don't seem to push the ball. You allow defenses to set when your point guard ho hums the ball down the court.

They are getting better...I just wish people would show up to the games. I've missed the last two, but I'd been to all of them previously. Playing in that arena when it is 80% empty has to be depressing and it can't help recruiting.

Asking them to be .500 is pretty tough, but if they keep improving they could be close.

Attendance has been around 5K so 33% capacity. I think Mizzou needs to close off sections so fans are closer to the floor/each other. It would make the atmosphere better. And when they start winning more over the next couple of years attendance will improve.

So basically we're going to get the NBA. I liked college more before when defense actually existed.
