The assertion by some is that Pinkel needs to be fired. He's run his course, done all he can. Let's say that's true and he is canned at the end of the season.

List the coaches who can "take the program to the next level" who would come here knowing that they would be fired for a shitty season after back-to-back division titles?

Once that list is complete, forward to the AD. Or fold it nice and tight and shove that sumbitch sideways.

Is anyone seriously thinking this is a conversation that is going to happen at the AD level?

I think people are just bitching (understandably) about a ridiculously horrendous year.

My suspicion: the coaching staff set "realistic goals" for our team this year. They didn't expect the defense to be quite this good and didn't expect the offense to be completely inept.

But with Hansbrough injured, they adjusted their expectations down to a "bowl team." And they still think they can make it to that goal. Largely because they're being stupid fricks and pretending the issues aren't systemic.

I think we saw the same thing in 2012 where they were playing for a bowl, but forgot to cover that one receiver for Syracuse for an entire game. And they said to themselves, we were just a couple plays away from our goals for the season.

I think that's where Pinkel's at now. He thinks we're right where we should be.

If he thinks that he is an idiot.

The offense was horrible last year, so this year is just an continuation.

We are seeing that Washington cannot develop WRs unless they have NFL talent.

Where is the RB development? Witter?

A sr OL that looks absolutely lost?

If he thinks this is where his offense should be after having this staff for 15 yes. well then he is a real dumbass. IMO

One, we pay an AD millions to make those decisions and find the right guy.

How about Barry Odom though? It's pretty widely thought he will be leaving us to go to Memphis to take the HC position after this season. His unit has been top notch, and he would definitely be able to bring in defensive players with his record.

We certainly don't want to lose Odom, but that looks relatively certain to happen. This solves both problems at once.

I would say the lack of talent on offense is alarming. Does that mean Pinkel should hang it up, maybe, maybe not.

One thing appears to be true. This coaching staff has lost control of this team.

For the record, I don't want him fired. I understand the ramifications of that.

I'm just of the belief that he's accomplished all that he can, and I'm ready for a change.

Last night was one of the worst coached games I've seen in his tenure. His refusal to play certain guys on offense, his seemingly blind loyalty to his staff.

It just makes you wonder exactly what he's thinking. It reminds me of the Mike Martz days in St. Louis, when someone would question an obvious problem with the team and he'd reply, "Shoot, we'll fix that."

Nothing to see here folks, everything is fine.

Pinkel has never gone 4-8, 1-7 at Mizzou.

People cannnot sit there and tell me this is the least talented team he has ever had. I don't believe that.

Which means it's a coaching issue. Clean house on the offensive side of the ball. OC, OL, WR, RB. Problem is if you wipe out all of those guys you will never recover.

So where does that leave us? Ricker or Henson has to go, if not both. I doubt he gets rid of either.

I expect next year to be a very very rough year. The schedule is rough, the OLine will be raw, the RBs will be raw. It's going to be ugly. If Pinkel can survive next year it will be a miracle.

Sure, OL blows. No excuses there. But a lot of freshman and sophmores are playing significant time at the other skill positions on offense.Just saying.

Pinkel is not going anywhere until he agrees to retire. Maybe there should be some of those conversations between the powers-that-be and Pinkel?

I do believe he needs to do something significant. What? I don't know. But that is why he makes $4M and I don't.

It starts and ends with the OL.

These young guys aren't getting any meaningful experience from an aspect of making plays and gaining confidence because Lock is either on his back, scrambling from three lineman, or throwing a pass in which he had no time to use his progressions.

That and there seems to be about 5 plays in the playbook this season.

The OL play is just absolutely unacceptable.

When Lock isn't hurried the WR's just aren't getting open.RB's can't juke anyone or get yards after contact.Yes, OL reeks, but the other skill position players aren't getting it done either.

Henson just isn't very creative with his play calling.Hell, run a reverse, end around, flea flicker, or some other surprise play.
