I still can't believe how different everyone played in the USC game when Berk came in. It was like everyone cared again
They didn't care this past weekend against Vandy. Obviously, Berks wasn't the answer. He actually performed worse than Franklin that game.
I don't know...I'm so fricking pissed about this season and this team (ie. Coaches).

Berks was obviously unprepared to play vs Vandy. Berks looked fine in his first start.
This is further evidence that makes me think the staff doesn't give as much time to the backups as they should. Our backups appear to be neglected at just about every position other than maybe DL.

Mind you, Berk came in against the 3rd String of SC. And Berk cant rifle passes into small holes. We saw that last Saturday.

He rifled them in there vs ASU.
As for the USC game, Berk led the TD drive vs their starting secondary. USC had not given up a TD in the redzone yet and did what they could to preserve that record. Even in a blowout, I couldn't believe the change in offensive effort when Berk came in.
No, Berk is not going to win a heisman at MU nor will he ever win a conference title. He is not the greatest thing since sliced bread.

It was also against a cover 3 defense

it was against man2man in the redzone. Lucas beat the jam at the LoS for the TD.

The difference is he didn't have Clowney and Taylor breathing down his neck

And Alabama's front 7 is better. Then add Sunseri blitzing and it's even more of an issue.

If they get pressure without blitzing will be the big issue

Do you really have any doubt this will happen? Really?

They'll be able to get pressure with 2 down lineman. Their defensive scheme may look a whole lot like what navy did to us, except Bama out talents us at every position. Could be a lot of turnovers. Hell the coaching staff apparently only wanted 6 wins before the season; talk about low expectations.

I heard something about this - what's the source?

the turnovers and QB play shouldn't be an issue. The running game should be the focus. Doubt it happens, though.

I didn't mean that I doubt it will happen.

I've heard this from multiple sources but the last one I heard was from one of the student athletic assitants on the team, a graduate assistant I believe is their title. It's quite embarrassing that our coaching staff had such low expectations, and hell at this point it'd take a miracle to even get to 6 wins and a bowl

Better not be true
I certainly find it hard to believe.

Breakaway let me clarify what I have heard. Not that the coaching staff was telling the players or anything they only expected 6 wins, but more like behind closed doors the coaching staff realized our lack of depth and thought it was very possible we would on win 6 games this year. Either way very disheartening that we have this lack of depth, especially since for some reason we only take like 20 recruits a year when we are allowed 25.
Posted on 10/10/12 at 11:28 am to FightTigers
You can't take 25 every year, at least not ethically.
Posted on 10/10/12 at 12:05 pm to notsince98
You certainly can, as attrition should be expected with kids transferring and not making grades or being kicked off the team for violations. We lose at 2-3 kids every year because of these issues, and it'd be nice to oversign just a bit. I'm not asking for GP to turn into a robot like saban and just process kids left and right but it may be part of the nature of the beast
