Franklin to be back for UK game

So this will give him 3 weeks of rest right? I don't have a schedule in front of me.

Think this will be good enough? Still, I'd love to see what the old Franklin can do with these defenses. He's been bottled up all year. Time to pop the cork off this sucker.

Franklin looked good at the beginning of the Vandy game. Give him 3 weeks and he should be feeling pretty good.

Trying to be optimistic here, UK and Syr are must wins. Then from there you look at the grouping of UF, Tenn, and TAMU. We need one out of there. I would probably bear in on the Tenn game as the one to circle. I am not saying we will win it, or have a good chance to. But they are the worst of those three, there should be a higher level of urgency for the team to reach post season, and Dooley may have lost the team by then. Does anybody else agree, or am I off in my analysis?

I think you're absolutely right, Stripes. I don't think there's any way we beat Florida at The Swamp. And the thing about Tennessee is, if the defense goes after Bray aggressively early on, and get in his head, we've got a chance there. If Bray gets popped a couple of times early, he's not mentally tough enough to keep his head in the game. A&M is definitely tougher this year, but I want to see how they play against good competition. Beating Arkansas and Ole Miss this year doesn't impress me much.

Who tha frick cares if or when he returns? God, people think that we'll start winning games with the tank. We haven't yet.

Put Mauk in and chalk this season up as the longest practice ever. Get Mauk game experience and start developing our future heisman QB now!

This won't happen, so why am I daydreaming?

Who's your QB for next year? Assume Franklin comes back against Kentucky and plays out the rest of the season. Compare him next year to Berk next year if Berk gets the experience of playing the rest of the season. Whoever gives you the best opportunity to win NEXT year by playing the rest of this year is who I would start. Wish I just had that answer now.

Unfortunately, there's no way to know that. And you're trying to compare a junior, dual-threat QB to a RSFR, more pro-style QB. That's really tough to do.

Doesn't mean leadership qualities aren't there though. We need the Sheldons and TJs to fire people up, but there's more to leading than that.

I have to agree though - as long as Yost is calling the plays I'm not sure it matters who the QB is. I still happen to believe Franklin is our best option right now, if he can play. But the problems are far deeper than that, or even the OL.

Though I have to say - I feel very sorry for the RSFR that's going to be lining up across from Jesse Williams though.

Been thinking about Yost and people talking about how he is good at developing QB's. Watching how flat footed and straight legged our QB's stand in the backfield, I'm beginning to wonder how good of a QB coach he is too. How much credit does he get for a freakish athlete in Brad Smith? Daniel probably taught him as much as Yost taught Daniel. Gabbert, well he had and got drafted on his measurables much more than his accomplishments. Maybe our current QB situation is showing that Yost isn't really even that good at coaching up QB's unless they already have freakish athleticism/knowledge of the game/measurables. This flat footed stance drives me nuts and I have to assume he's coaching that.
