The two big money family's I work for are very pleased with the Drinkwitz hire. They like the high risk/reward aspect of it.
But a comment interested me: That of "We were afraid the Board wanted to go safe and cheap. That's their history. Nice that they backed Sterk on the hire."
Now that's pretty much a 180 on what we heard from the PBS. Have you heard anything up your way?

well, it's obvious they went neither safe or cheap

I’ve kind of backed off since everything blew up. I’m sure I’ll hear some stuff over Christmas.
You may have seen on here, I was trolling Matter on twitter and he responded saying he NEVER reported that Monken, Anderson and Holtz were the final candidates which leases me to believe that he’s fine with letting some odd interpretations of events sit out there.
We do know that 30 initial candidates were on a list. I don’t know how you find 30 names of exciting, offensive head coaches or top-flight OCs that are available and that list doesn’t include Drinkwitz. So I would guess he was on the initial list. But it also looks like the first face to face meeting was Saturday.
So both sides are probably putting the best version of events forward for public consumption. But I think that Sterk got a guy in the end that the fan base likes and he probably bought a couple of years in the job (provided he doesn’t piss off Bill Laurie more).

If you have a PD sub Matter went more into it today in his chat.
I don’t subscribe but have been told his answers gave more insight into what went down.

Ah, that was another question, is big Bill any happier these days?

All I know is Gabe was on 101 again yesterday and doubled down on those were the final 3 and took it a step further to say that there was nada with Drink until Friday. I'm sorry, but you don't start a search new, find your guy, hammer out numbers/terms, meet him and announce him in little over 48 hours. Sterk had been eyeing Drink all along. The others might have been on a list of some sort but Gabe is high when he says that Sterk started from scratch on Friday and for the first time considered Drink.

That's pretty specific language and I don't doubt it. But the story that is still pushed by Gabe flat out asserts that there weren't phone calls before hand. Hell, there were probably phone calls from the get go.

Yeah. That’s horse hockey. I would guess that one of the search firm’s key functions is being responsible for background checks. And if Sterk requested a background check on Drink on Friday, it wasn’t completed by the time the jet took off for Boone on Saturday.

Since it was reported that Anderson was going to make less than Odom maybe Sterk used the 3 names reported to get the BoC to give him a bigger budget.

Yeah. That was an interesting premise by a supposed head hunter on Tigerboard.

Oh yea is that what Tigerboard is reporting?

Is Tigerboard saying we have good staffs? That what I am asking you!

I have an excellent staff, so my wife assures me.
