In another thread Sleeping Tiger I think, was asking about the cost of the east side tower addition, right here you go, 45.5 million for this project.

LINK

Looks like the design rendering has video stripes on the upper deck front, just above the loge level, that should be a really nice visual feature. Kids will notice it, remember it, add yet another recruiting tool in the arms war.

The new listed seating is going from 70k to 75k. Just curious as the previous max capacity was 75k w/ standing room only will the new max capacity be 80k?

what should be the latest field cams:

Looks like they blended it in well to the existing stuff.

And I was really more interested in knowing how much the hill cost.

You would hope the Populous architects could figure out the "blending" old with the new trick.

Sure, I hadn't forgotten, just haven't seen an exact figure, the maneater has a story indicating it was part of the near 10M west side renovation project. Again my rough guesstimate is in the 1.5 million area.

Pretty sure the general admission/hill seats will still be included.

If I recall correctly, even in the old capacity there was only 63 something thousand actual seats.

I'm very underwhelmed with the renovation. Meh.

I have no clue where you're getting these capacity numbers. Every place I've seen has said capacity will be going back to where it was a couple years ago. The seats gained from the east side upper deck and loges will offset the seats lost from the smaller area of the hill, loss of bleachers, and some loss of seats where the upper deck connects to top of old east side.

They could add capacity by putting bleacher seats back on top of north hill but no immediate plans to do so.

Wow thanks for the incredibly detailed night shots, I can really make an informed opinion now.

Capacity will not change much from pre-construction. 71,004 will go up to @ 71,300

The real difference is the price of the seats. Losing GA and lower priced temp bleacher seats for high priced suite seating.

Pre-2009 68K and change(62K seats and @6000 hill)

2009-2012 71,004 (62000 seats, @6000 hill seating and ~3000 temp bleachers)

2013 67,124 (62000 seats, reduced hill seating (@5000) and no temp bleachers)

2014 71,300 (62000 seats - 1000 seats (top eight rows) = 61000 seats + 4100 upper deck seats + 1200 premium seats = 66300 seats + 5000 hill seats and no temp bleachers)

Will there be another renovation phase to add more seats? Is this a "phase" project, or does this conclude the stadium renovation?

Personally, I believe they need to add seats to the hill up to the rock M. Leave the rock M there for tradition purposes, but fill in the hill with seats up to the rock M.

yep, agree with that,, the temp bleacher business is so:

what we need is a good permanent seating base in the north end and if needed add more seats in a south end renovation/expansion. Sitting on the hill is fun the first couple of times and then it really isn't. If we have the actual ability to sell that many end of field seats put them on another tier in the south end above the planned added suite's and office level.

yea that idea to build in the seating on the north end has already been kicked around a bit, and to see a mock up:

To answer your other question, no there is another phase on the longer term master plan radar, it would include a south end renovation and expansion and add a luxury level and AD office complex lvel with another seat tier above it, the final phase plan would go something like:

Note, these drawings are not part of an official plan, they are simply fan renderings of a concept for the stadium.

Those renderings look bad arse. Seems like it wouldn't take a whole lot for them to complete the first one, and I think it makes the stadium look much better.

That's my real disappointment. The original renderings had a full roof/canopy thing there instead of just the light stands.

My thought was that they decided to wait and see how the canopy worked and if fans liked it before putting the whole thing across. Looks like they stacked the lights on the ones that are there to get what they needed. Still thinking they may add back some light poles like the west side still has.

I doubt it. What would the fans have to say about it? It keeps too much noise in the stadium?

I think they cheeped out and cut the roof except for the light banks. I can't see them spending extra money and bringing in another crane somewhere down the line to complete it.

They've only just taken down the massive erector set towers so there is a good way to go to see what it will finally look like. Isn't Populous supposed to be one of the best stadium architects in the business?

Honestly, want to see it finished before passing any real judgement, in any case it's a step in the right direction, the recruits seem to be impressed with it as well.
