Any guess on the over/under on how many on this team are in the NFL next year? 4/5 is doable IMHO.

Missouri CB E.J. Gaines strengthens draft stock vs. Mike Evans

In the case of Missouri cornerback E.J. Gaines, who shared this week's title with Whitley, the stats that matter belong to Mike Evans. The star Texas A&M receiver was held to season lows of just four catches and 8 receiving yards as Missouri topped the Aggies to win the SEC East division and a berth in the SEC title game. Evans entered the game as the league's leader in receiving yards per game at 119.5, and as a third-year sophomore, he is considering an early jump to the NFL.

Who are you thinking Ridge?

Gaines?
Lucas?
Washington?
Franklin?
Sam?

I think they all have a chance. My guess is 2, maybe 3, get drafted. The others may sign with teams but I don't think all will get drafted.

Ealy may go early and I think Andrew Wilson will get a look. He is playing well in the SEC, that's worth bucks these days.

EJ and Washington have a good chance IMHO. Franklin and Sam could be late round or FA pickups.

A big Saturday will get them tons of exposure.

I don't think Ealy goes early. He wouldn't go before the 3rd round, so he would be wise to come back.

Lucas, Washington, Sams, EJ, Wilson, Britt will all have a shot at being drafted.

There are still a lot of dependent factors that will affect this up or down.

But as of today - I'd put EJ in late first round or early second. I could see him going to Minnesota.

Also in the second round are Ealy and Sam. With good performances Saturday in in the natty, their stock goes up. But their also will have perform in the combine and avoid injury and bad publicity between now and then.

Franklin would have been a late round pick - but he jumps ahead with the large number of QBs opting to stay another year. Outstanding performances in the next two games and a good combine appearance and Franklin could jump up into the second - but that would be a stretch. Right now, he's a great development acquisition in the late third early fourth round.

I don't think Franklin has a NFL arm, tbh. Late round pick at best.

Fair point. Especially after the injury. But that is something he'll get plenty of work on while backing someone for a couple of years.

The problem he faces is that there are a few team shopping for new QB. And there isn't a big pool anymore after the dropouts. That could lead to his being thrown to the wolves and hurt his longer term career potential. I don't think any of is see him as beginning next season as a starter. But with a little work, he is a great development asset. And will be fairly cheap.

Take it for what it's worth, but I read somewhere that Ealy is slated to possibly be a 2nd round pick, Ealy and Sam are 2nd or 3rd round picks, Washington a 4th or 5th round pick and Lucas and Britt as 7th rounders or FA's.

How high does Ealy have to believe he'll go before he leaves?

Ealy has NFL size and speed. He'll go higher than his stats suggest. If he puts up the right numbers in the 40x, he could even go in the first round.

Gaines is a great college CB, until we see his combine speed, where he gets drafted is a mystery.

Franklin is a late draft pick, more likely he'll be brought in as a FA.

Wilson's speed may make him undraftable. He reminds me of Hall, VT ILB. Terrific player, great tackler but sub NFL speed.

Sam is a middle round OLBer in the 3-4.

Washington, Lucas and Britt are all 6th round or later. Britt IMO would be far better served playing guard. JMO.

Excellent analysis.

Any decent combine by Gaines will have him taken in Rounds 2-3.
