Dwitz was 5-5 in an all-SEC schedule his first year, right? I don't think that is going backwards from the year before. He has gone slightly backwards the last 2 years, though.

Correct. Drink's 3 years is a downward slope. Not good. I can't find any examples of a coach who got worse his first 3 years and accomplished anything long term.

I feel like I have scoured data bases for weeks trying to find signs of hope from other coaching examples.

It’s pointless to act like we know that Mizzou will finish the season with a losing record. 6-6 is very much still in play, which would mean Drink has been .500 every year - neither improving or regressing. From there you hope he is learning as a HC, and the improved recruiting will lead to eventual success. It’s not the dumpster fire people are making it out to be - yet

When you overshoot your point you make your argument worse. He can't be on a 3-year slide if the first year wasn't a slide. I think his 5-5 all-SEC result was better than Odom's last year. So he has slipped back slightly the past 2 years, with the caveat that we are 65% through this year and that assessment could change.

This isn't hard. Connect the 3 points from his conference winning percentage and what is the slope? You need three points to really look at the beginning of a trend. The slope is down with no increases to be seen yet.

You can't "connect" anything yet.

First, his initial season he didn't slide downward plus he had no out of conference patsies to pad his record.

Second, the third season isn't over.

Third, he's on an upward trajectory with the defense. We were 109th and 128th his first two years. Now, we're 25th.

I'm guessing the AD, unlike some of our fans, will look at the entire picture and not simply our won loss record.

His first season was solid and since he has been shite. Just accept it. No data or spin can overcome those facts.

Hopefully this season ends differently but right now it is just pathetic to claim the guy looks like he is going to succeed.

Where was the defense the year before drink took over?

You going to credit him for fixing what he broke?

Normalizing mediocrity is the problem with you. And he isn't even getting to .500 in the first place.

Only pussies use the word “normalizing.” I’m not saying 6-6 is not a solid season, I was simply refuting that guy acting like Mizzou’s record has declined each year under Drink

He needs the stepping stone of making Missouri into a winner again before he moves on. He can still get there.

I thought Barry Odom should have gotten an extra year but I can see many here were right about letting him go earlier. However this year ends though Coach Drinkwitz can and should get his 5 years. Simply because recruiting and the transfer portal are such a big part of college football now and he is effective at both.

Some are predicting the largest and wildest transfer portal ever incoming this off season. Many teams will be remade or broken.

Why are you so negative towards Drinkwitz?
Did he do something bad to you or someone you know? He is the best HC since Pinkel. Pinkel didn't start off good either and was close to being run off by fans! I felt bad because I was one of them. Now you need to give him TIME to make adjustments and to build a good football team. Don't tell me there are good HCs that would love to take over a HC job that Drinkwitz never had a chance to get his players all on the field at the same time. And the team is getting better overall in his third year. I believe you just want to see Drinkwitz gone no matter what the result is of this team.

Thanks for the link. That was a well deserved celebration.

Good to see the coaches and players having a good time. The players seemed to to be having fun during the game as well.

It was interesting Drink replaced the tight end with an extra lineman sometimes so they could get the run game going.

Hopefully he can hold the team together during the portal and add some crucial players to the mix for next year.

You mean Barry's defense?

The one that he destroyed when he became head coach?

That defense?

It took Drink just two years to get it back to where it was after Odumb and his "total rebuild" totally screwed it up.

Speaking of Barry. Where's Arkansas' defense right now? Well, I'll be it's 121st. He's definitely a defensive genuius.
