Do you guys really feel that Drink is going to hire a bona-fide OC and put an identity on this offense.

I have to be honest, I have my doubts. Hamdan leaving worries me. He should have been a perfect candidate. I really hope I'm wrong, but I think he calls plays in 2023. Your thoughts?

If he isn’t mandated to hire one by our AD, then the program is fricked.

Eli needs to stop being Harry Potter and the OC savior and just be the goddamn CEO/recruiting head/big picture guy it and let his damn coordinators do the work.

Otherwise he has a ticket to getting fired and years to get back to a P5 school.

Tired of his shite. He isn’t half as smart as he thinks he is.

But if it was mandated, wouldn't been very easy to turn to Hamdan and promote him. Hamdan had improved the offense in the 3 games he called the plays. And he's a good friend of Drink.

If he won't promote a friend who runs his system and has proven he can call plays that improve the offense, do you trust that he hires a stranger with his own system?

Maybe the AD has bigger balls than we think and is mandating he hire a guy that doesn’t run his clearly shitty system and stop meddling entirely with the offense? Hence why Hamdan wasn’t retained.

At least. One wishes for an Xmas gift like that.

I mean. Part of the offensive turn around was playing the worst pass Ds in D1 in a row.

I think any OC would be better than none, so the improvement on O can't be chalked up to Hamdan.
Plus, we played worse defenses for that period.

Do you guys not understand that it takes two for any job offering to work?

Do you think maybe Bush wanted to go back home?

I get him going home for BSU HC position. But being a SEC OC is a faster track to a HC position, than being the BSU OC.

Drink's ego is getting in the way of what's best and obvious for the program. So to answer your question, he will only do it if the AD mandates it.

There is no way Drinkwitz doesn't give up OC duty or else he will be fired next year if team isn't much improved on offense. I think we need a good recruiter for that OC position too. Might be a good idea to look at Alabama or Georgia for that position. Maybe Tennessee. The key is getting someone that can recruit and knows offense that can get receivers open, and OL do a better job.

If we don’t get an OC, there no reason to watch a game next year.

Drink is a shitty play caller. Have we ever had a trick play that worked?

Maybe the trick is to hire a worthy OC that can also bring in worthy recruits.

On trick plays we should have the WR/RB throw it, can’t be any worse

I would like to see a West Coast style OC. Mixed with Drinks type of offense it would be fun to watch. We would see more horizontal plays mixed with vertical and screen passes. Instead of running opening up the passing game we could use short passes to open up the passing game.

No, not really. Like all coaches he probably wants to be a HC one day and it’s infinitely more likely that he makes that jump from OC. He took a fairly significant pay cut. He obviously wasn’t getting that position here.

I do think we hire an OC, although it’s not going to matter if we aren’t better on the OL and at QB.

It's sad, but it's so!
