A little surprising but on second thought we're not playing Arky so I understand

My mistake on a couple of these listed as "OR," but they are named first.

Also, lol.

All LBs are listed as or starters.

This is also still a really young team. That either means that BO and his staff are really good at talent evaluations, or that GP had a recruiting drop off after switching conferences. Could be both.

I'm surprised to see Blanton so low on the depth chart. I thought he was almost a guaranteed starter.

We were fortunate last year with some of our evaluation making up for our lack of starpower in recruiting. Utsey, Crockett, Garrett, and Holmes were all low-to-middle 3 star recruits and all of them played well as true freshmen. Perhaps Whiteside, Ulmer, and Sparks can be those guys this year.

And I heard Ulmer was playing well, but I did not at all expect him to just come in and wipe Thomas Wilson off of the depth chart. I'm excited to see him play.

If you remember last seasons depth charts didn't mean a whole lot. I still expect Blanton to play a lot and be the most productive TE.

I didn't check them all, but...

Surprised with the two young OL overtaking the SR.

Absolutely shocked Blanton is listed 3rd. Wonder if he got in trouble?

All LB's listed as starters.

CB listed as Cheadle or Hines or Sparks. Which can't be a good thing.

DT Whiteside was a 2* because of his lack of height, but he is strong as an ox. Watch out for him over time if not now.

This is what needed to happen. Those guys weren't recruited to give a pair of walkons a couple of plays off. Wubilli mentioned this in another thread but the days of defaulting to upperclassmen appear to be over.

I have remained on the sidelines for a while now but feel the need to expound a bit on Cou's comment. Not to cast shade on the "but if.. sunshine positive optimism about the unknown and unproven but just a cup protector reality reminder.

The long standing phrase regarding "If you have a starting #1 QB question or controversy then you really do not have a legit #1". I believe that the logic and reasoning of this point can and should be taken into consideration when evaluating or projecting every rosters' position #1 or bonafide starter.

Having so many questions should and are concerning.

Cheadle is the starter. There is no or behind his name.

LB is the real concern.
If the DL goes back to the attacking scheme, which we are told is the case, CBs will be ok.
But doing that puts extra pressure on the LBs to make plays in the run game. That's especially true for the Hall and Burkett's LB spot.

Playing behind Beckner forcing help to his gap will help the WLBs.

Surprised also Blanton is so low. Now even the #2 but the #3.

Makes me wonder if they're prioritizing blocking over pass catching from the TE this season.

Reese was used in more ways last season than Blanton. Reese played attached, split wide and as an H back.
