Don't forget he also coached at USC and might have some Cali connections.

So what's left? An offensive line coach?

And is nine the limit or will a dedicated special teams coach be hired?

If not, who among the nine looks to be over the STs?

3 assistant positions still to go OL is one, 1 is probably a special teams coordinator/defensive assistant, 1 more offensive assistant.

Joe Jon (how's that for a SEC name???) Finley is the new TE coach to round out the staff. Played TE at OU and was most recently offensive quality control at Baylor. 30 years old.

Pleased with what Odom was able to do overall.

Lots of TX presence. Expect a renewed focus on the state.

HC Barry Odom
OC Josh Heupel (TX)
DC Demontie Cross (TX)
RB Cornell Ford (STL)
OL Elarbee
WR Andy Hill (KC)
TE Finley
QB Josh Heupel (TX)
DL Chris Wilson
LB Demontie Cross (TX)
DB Ryan Walters (GA)
S&C Cutchlow
CB Brown
Even though he wasn't my first choice, I think Heupel, was the best of the hires.

Still wish they could have picked up, a heavy hitting SEC recruiter.

Let's see how we recruit.

Hopefully Wilson can help Ford in St. Louis. Ford does a lousy job at closing the top StL. talent.

Overall a functional group, nothing spectacular. QB is the most important position and Heupal can recruit QB's very well, so that's a plus.

A few younger guys who will have good energy may turn out to be ace recruiters. But I'm more optimistic with this group than the direction WDWWD was going.

Ford hasn't missed on many STL recruits the last few years.

And Cross would seem to be the guy to help out on STL, being that he is from the area. B

he missed on 2 4* OT's 2 years ago. The highest rated DE went to ND, another to ASU. RB's to Wisconsin, we had to flip a DE from Wisconsin and he ended up playing as a true Freshman.

Ford has sucked at closing off STL.

He also landed Sheldon, Scherer, Newsome, Gabbert, & Penton.

Howard was slow played by the staff. That's caused Mizzou to miss on several in state guys.

Ford has not sucked. He's landed 3 of the 4 5* players we've ever had.

If landing everyone we go after is your definition of "not sucking" then we won't ever have a coach that doesn't suck

My post says sucked at "Closing off St. Louis." Even if you go back to the Gabberts, they both committed to Nebraska first. Both had a secondary recruiter to bring them back. Richardson committed to USC. STL. has never been a lockdown for Mizzou and the guy has had the area forever.

After all this time, and with the Illini sucking, he should have STL and a good portion of SW ILL in his back pocket. Any Mizzou fan for more than 2 years knows there is a constant siphoning of the better recruits out of the STL area in both football and bball.

Mizzou has struggled in the STL area for about 40 years.
Since the move to the SEC coaches have areas that they recruit, but once one is identified the position coach tag teams the recruit. The misses along the OL are just as much on Henson, Walker, & Ricker as Ford.
