And I already gave you the reasons that Mizzou won't ever be at that level fan wise. Now Odom goes and wins a conference championship, which we have never done in the SEC or Big 12, maybe he'll get butts in seats. You're comparing teams that have won National titles in the last 20 years to Mizzou who can barely get to conference title games.

You just refuse to accept reality and think Mizzou fans are going to wake up one day and start supporting the team like it's Alabama.

Only way that would happen is if Mizzou wins big.

Lol. You are terrible at this.
I specifically mentioned SC who hasn't won shite in 20 years. You can throw Kentucky, Ole Miss and State in that group as well. Their fan bases show up and donate. They always have.

The pro sports angle is crap. If people want a successful college program, it has to be supported. End of story. If the masses won't do that, they will get what they paid for.

I honestly don't give two fricks what people do with their time and money. If people want to be die hard Cardinals or Chiefs fans, go at it.

The hilarity is people bitching about the program when they do nothing financially to support it, which is the major difference between MU and the rest of the SEC.

Are they not renovating the stadium with donations?

Lol. You are running in circles.

Carry on, nub.

But sure there were donations, primarily from one source. The rest is revenue bonds.

MU lags woefully behind in general AD donations in the conference. To argue otherwise is foolish.

In what way?

You expect Mizzou to have a fanatical fan base like SEC teams that have either won a national title in the modern era or have no competition sports wise in their respective state.

Kentucky - Like Mizzou, iffy attendance and support for football
Tennessee - National Titles
Vanderbilt - No support
Alabama - No pro team and titles
Auburn - No pro team and titles
Florida- National titles
LSU - National titles
Ole Miss- No pro teams
Miss St - No pro teams
A&M - One of the largest schools in the country
Georgia - National title
Arkansas - National title

Mizzou has the donations and fan support of a mid tier school with no history of national titles and that competes with a host of professional sports teams.

Those are the Facts, when Mizzou is good the stands are full, when Barry Odom gets embarrassed by Purdue at home, the stands are empty.

It's a pretty easy formula here. Win and people will come. Be mediocre or shite and the stands will be empty.

Mizzou’s fan support and donations are not midtier for the conference. Mizzou’s fan support is squarely in the 12-14 range in the SEC. it was midtier for the Big 12.

For Mizzou to win big support has to be better. That’s partly on the fans to contribute financially and it’s partly on the university to reach out around the state, and make better connections.

NCAA mid tier, not SEC.

Then Mizzou won’t be very successful year in and year out. Mizzou is in the SEC and has to have a level of commitment near the level of the teams it will regularly compete against. That’s the SEC East and Arkansas at a minimum.

Mizzou won't win how Alabama wins with 4 and 5 star recruits. Mizzou needs to have 4 and 5 year seniors who contribute sprinkled in with a 4 and 5 star local kid.

That's how Pinkel won and it's how Odom will win.

One thing you guys keep forgetting and that is that Mizzou OWNS the state of Missouri and the only D1 and Power 5 school in the state. Plus we have one of the smallest stadiums in the SEC and have a hard time filling it up even against bluebloods.

I won't speak for him, but I don't give a damn about the SEC nor their fans. I only care about Mizzou. Odom has a lot to prove.

No one is forgetting that we have a band wagon fan base.

That has been the entire point of the discussion.

What the hell did this thread turn into?

Let me see if I can summarize. Everyone agrees that Mizzou is mediocre at best but we are arguing over the reason it is mediocre at best?

With the Rams gone, Mizzou does have an opportunity with the STL fan base to make a case for support. Seriously a good PR approach might actually go a long way. It sucks with such a vaunted journalism school, not much positive comes out to drive attendance and support.
