Trying to be the optimist here so imma say it. Brady has a Conner Shaw year for Mizzou. Shaw was nails for SC. Cool wins QB1, we gotta trust the coaches and get behind it. Let’s be optimistic. Go Tigers!

I'm all for it. I'm hoping he's a lot better healthy with a year of experience

Have we seen a depth chart or is this still just based on team captains?

They don’t have to be one and the same….I hope.

The people who claim to know things say he’s QB1 now. And will start game 1.

Being 6-7 with or without injury isn't good enough to get the job this is just dumb..

Cook better be it or the recruiting momentum will again be quashed. It’s wild to still nit have an SEC caliber QB.

Shaw had a better arm, was a better decision maker, and was cooler under pressure than Cook. They are not comparable IMO. Also looking at their offers as a recruit - in addition to SCJr Shaw had offers from Stanford, GA Tech, Wake Forest, and WVU. In addition to MU, Cook had offers from Southern Illinois, Austin Peay, and Lindenwood.

He's a true son and has a positive attitude, coaches probably like him and all that jazz. But I can't see him ever being more than a below average game manager. Hope I'm wrong

Hope you are wrong as well. Like I said, trying to be optimistic. Seems wild to me Horn or Garcia cannot unseat him

With all that experiences he got by playing a full year really help him for this year. Plus, the new OC/quarterback coach is making a difference for him. The other can still participate in games. Plus, they can start next season or the season after that. Like what Gary Pinkel did with his quarterbacks.

I don’t think this was your intent, or maybe it was- but I actually like this idea. It might be easiest to start Cook and then have Horn or Garcia on the field in the same games.

Then hopefully it becomes evident that one of the latter is far better, and it makes for an obvious and seamless transition.

Lefty, two things:

1) it scares me a bit that I fully understand what you are saying here
2) it scares the everloving shite out of me that I agree with what you are saying here

I read an article from SDS that Drinkwitz will have Cook and Horn playing the first two games of the season and the third game one of them will be the starter.

I know people have been freaking out about Horn not over taking Cook in practice. But I think it says a lot that Horn has performed well enough that he’s going to get a shot in games to take the starting job away.

Cook and Horn to split time and prove it on the field.

Good news. It is Horn’s to go get.

The firzt 2 games are set up perfectly for this. If after these first 2 games it's obvious that Horn is the best QB and Drink sticks with Cook anyway, well then there will be reason to bitch. I don't see a reason to bitch yet.

Eli is hitching his wagon to Brady for a reason and the reason is BC is just the best QB right now and maybe even all season. I like BC but he needs to up his game a fair bit for us to be more than a .500 team.

At this point, I am confident that our new OC and Drink will make the correct call between Cook and Horn.

Brady has that desired game time experience and maybe working with an OC directly will translate to explosive plays on the field.

Horn is big.

Worst thing about Cook is his ability to read defenses.

Horn is gone if he is not the starter. He may hit the portal even if he becomes the starter and I don’t blame him. Cook might be good in practice and against teams like NMSU, Arkansas, and South Dakota, but he will struggle throwing the ball against good defenses.

He won’t be able to throw downfield accurately and it’s not just because he has a weak arm. If he is the starter we will have to rely on YAC again this year.

Read an article a few days ago that said Garcia is probably the QB that will be the best NFL prospect, because of his size and arm strength. He will be are QB next year if Horn hits the portal. If Horn is the starter both Horn and Cook may transfer

Why would Drinkwitz do something like that? This isn't good for him if he starts the lesser of the two quarterbacks.
