True there’s nothing that will change it, unless BO wins big a couple years straight.
Increasing the assistant salary pool can help that. Even if the coordinators are Walters and Finley. They would make less that Huepel and Cross, but there would be more of the pool to hire a QB coach, a LB coach, the 10th assistant and reward Haley, Ford and Hill for good seasons.

Lol. We went from Heupel to maybe Harrell to Joe Jon Finley. And we’re all supposed to say “good job, Odom. Helluva hire.” frick off sgain.
1. We haven't hired Finley yet. Save your bitching until it actually happens.
2. What assurance can you give me that Finley isn't our best option?
3 Why would Odom hire anyone he didn't think was the best man for the job? Is he trying to get fired?
Pinkel promoted the vast majority of the time also.

Not only that, but it helps retain assistants, which if you hire well, will get other opportunities.

That’s the question.

And the answer would be, he wouldn't.
Don't be obtuse.

Yeah he's probably craving to be the linebackers coach at Indiana after he gets fired so he's just trying to keep the big pay check for another 2 years before he can go do what he loves, be a position coach at a middling program. The long con

Another possible answer is, the best candidates won’t come.

Odom's extension includes an added incentive through attendance. If MU gets more than $11.4 mil in tickets, Odom will receive payment equal to 20% of surplus. For reference, MU generated $13.3 mil in ticket sales for fiscal year 2016 (2015 football season).
So if Lock comes back, BO will likely make an extra half million dollars next year.

Reasonable extension.
Should solidify his recruiting pitch.
I’m cool with it. Let’s see how he handles the current subterfuge.

I don’t think anyone thinks that Finley will get paid the same as Huepel if he’s named OC.
If Finley gets the job it’s not because Mizzou was cheap, it’s because BO thinks he’s the best guy for the job and that Sterk supports that decision.
So it took like 6 posts to come all the way back around to agreeing with his first statement that there is no need to increase the assistant pool in order to get the guys we are talking about getting.

Now you're going in circles. Are you saying we should over pay for Finley and Walters or we should go out and get someone better?

If we end up with a staff of in experience GA's analysts and holdovers, the salaries should be bare bones minimum.
Now if by chance BO lands someone with experience then pay accordingly.

Oh I agree with you SemperFi.
wubilli just went from saying that the staff, as proposed, should be lower paid than Heupel and crew but then did an about face and said that paying them more will make them better.

LOL. That's not at all what he said.

LOl the script changes hourly obviously.... It will change again.
I'm curious if we add any experience, or we go full training wheels go with no experience GA's analysts and holdovers.

I will go slow for you, since I see that it’s difficult for you to understand. Walters and Finley (if he’s the OC) are only 2 if 10 assistants for Mizzou next season. So the assistants that are worth raises can get them. Brick, Hill and Ford all had good years and could be rewarded with raises. The 3 new position coaches could also be paid well.

While I don't propose overpaying for anyone, Finley took a position group that had been an afterthought since 2011 and made them the most productive scoring TE unit in the nation. They are also a vital part of the power run game that makes the Veer and Shoot work. As a coach's son and a former HS dual threat QB, he also understands the important role of the Read Option in this offense. His connections and those of his father in the state of Texas are extremely valuable as well.
He will get his audition vs Texas and Odom will hire who he deems the best candidate to improve the offense.
Regardless of who is named the next OC, considering him "just another guy" is grossly short sighted.

I got no problem with whoever BO hires. Really don't care as long as they win. Just saying there is no need to pay a guy like Finley the type of money Huepel made.

He’s interviewed 3 guys so far. The rumors I have heard are Finley, Harrell and Gilbert.
