Is he hoping to get a waiver for eligibility?

I don't think you need one if his family "moves". If I remember correctly, that was one of the things good ol' Floyd Irons used to get players. The kid would all of a sudden declare his "residence" with an "uncle". No idea if they closed that loophole or not. Otherwise, yepp, would need a waiver. No clue what this kid has done.

He would have had to moved contemporaneously to his transfer and would have to have moved from outside the Webster school district into the Webster school district inside the district, I believe. But I'm guessing they covered their bases when they did it.
It is tough to get a waiver.

Would he really need a waiver to transfer from a private to public school if he's in the Webster district?

To compete in sports in less than a year? Yes, I believe so.

He lives in the Webster "area" and his brother already goes to webster. He was also in the WGSD before going to Vianney and I think if you go private to public you dont have to sit out.

Yes, you do. Unless he falls into an exception or gets a waiver. I had a friend who's kid played at a local private school and desperately wanted to transfer from the private school to his public school. Waivers are pretty much next to impossible to get so his 2 choices were to sit out a year or his parents could move to a new school boundary.

Not sure if this is true, but I've heard that you can go from Private to Public without sitting a year because you can claim that you couldn't afford the Private school anymore.
That makes sense, but Gordon is using the excuse of religion to transfer.

Yup. Has friends at our school who had a large negative impact on income and had to move their kid to public. He had to sit out a year in sports.

I really don't think that's the case. It may be a form of waiver as 808 was talking about, but it's not automatic. Maybe if you show a parent lost a job or there was some significant life event that created the inability to pay and maybe, otherwise transferring would be simple.

That's what I figured.
I imagine the religious reason isn't going to get him anywhere. He knew what Vianney was when he chose to go there. Whatever the result, I just hope the kid is getting sound advice.

Scary thought, Porter Jr has said he would like to enter college playing along side of friend and AAU teammate Trae Young,Young doesn't seem like he has any intrest in Mizzou. Hes from Norman Ok.
Im just assuming we have no chance with Porter since we have played awful and hes likely a top 3 recruit. UNless we win I will not think we have a chance with him anyway. He will end up at Duke or Kentucky.

Or maybe Porter could get him to come here?

Well we have 2 years to turn around the program and that kid does play for that Kansas City AAU team and has been offered.
